I never understood how in season one, the biggest driving force for her wanting to change was she was tired of being bullied/invisible
BUT
She was best friends with two of the most popular girls in school 😅😅 (Cassie and Maddie) so her storyline confused me from the beginning. Especially since you only kind of catch a glimpse of the so called "bullying" in flashbacks.

But there was so many ways to explore and continue her character 😢 That response doesnt make sense. It leads me to believe the rumour there was a storyline she was uncomfortable with, so she spoke up. And from there I think maybe not enough time for Sam to rewrite the show. Since they were under pressure to produce the next season riding popularity from the first.

I think it was mutual. As she says it in a tone that suggests a question. Which means no you were let go in a civil fashion. Also it’s clear she wanted her character to be more of the star considering how much screen time she got in season 1. Then the claims of “ I didn’t wanna be the fat best friend” uhm maam, no matter what character role u played fat was always gonna be a part. So she didn’t want a pause on her character arc so that she could possibly go into a redemption arc? Yeah the more I c of these lady the less I like her.
