I noticed that when Al speaks with you, he looks at you. Lots of times you have a celebrity being interviewed, and they spend most of their time looking and clowning at the audience or the camera. Al was speaking with Conan, and focused on him. Respect, Al.

The courts have said that you don’t need permission from the writers to do a parody, but Al always asked anyway. Total class move.

I met Weird Al back in 2007, he was a very nice guy and he gave me a hug. I told him "I love your music, it makes me smile. Thank you for being my friend on Myspace too." He smiled at me and said " I'm glad and thank you for being mine too." He signed my wristband for me and he gave me a hug! 😀💙💛

They're both so colourful and animated people. It's funny seeing them flail their arms around like muppets at the same timeXD

Al wanted to do a third parody with MJ, turning "Black or White" into "Snack All Night". Michael turned that one down though, feeling the message of racial peace was not to be taken lightly.

The way Al described meeting Michael would probably be the exact same feeling I would get if I met Michael. It's like, you KNOW he's human, but he's just so famous that you can't believe he's standing there right in front of you. I can imagine Michael being an incredibly nice guy, gentle and humble.

Before getting into my local underground punk scene, Weird Al was the first live show I ever saw.

He kicked ass.

This is absolutely legendary. "It's Chicken Potpie or it's nothing!" Artists at their best.

Weird Al has managed to be in the limelight for longer than most people he parodied

White and Nerdy and Amish Paradise are tied for the greatest song parodies of all time.

If you ever get a chance to see Weird Al live, don't hesitate. Hands down one of the top 3 concerts I've been too. He really puts on a show.

The thing is, he doesn't need the artist's permission to do any of his songs. They're all protected under parody law and always have been. He only "gets their permission" on principle alone to make sure nobody feels uncomfortable, none of that is legally required of him. Him giving Michael Jackson co-writer credit is also purely his choice as a friendly gesture and not at all necessary. Al is just a really, really sweet guy.
