Spend a bit more on a Maxcatch or Aventik and get a far better nymph rod complete with protective travel tube. A no-brainer. Not that I'm biased against cheap rods: I have both the 10' 5/6 and 9' 7/8 versions of this rod that I bought specifically for float tube and kayak fishing, so wouldn't be using my good rods and get upset if they were lost by being dropped in deep water. As far as the loose ferrule is concerned, lubricating all ferrules with paraffin candle wax will allow them to be seated better and less likely to unintentionally come apart.

Excellent video. I had the joint problem on my Shakespeare sigma when it was new. Solved it by rubbing candle wax on the joint. 8 years later it still going strong.

My guess is 76. Don't know if it went off yet but would be good to have a spare and thank you Andy and Leva for doing this. So glad I found your channel and really like the tutorials you have and the explanation of what you are doing. I got into fly fishing late after I retired and trying to do a lot of catching up but I do tie my own flies and doing my best and really enjoy it. So again thank you Andy and Leva (great camera work) and it is great to see you both on the water having fun. Im from the US and glad I found the channel searching Euro Nymphing. Great Job and best of luck with the channel.

Another fab video you two well done ! I know I have mentioned this before but I would love to see you do a pike fly fishing video and maybe followed up with a tutorial video and casting, the gear, fly tipes etc etc and maybe some ideas on some rods reels to get people started. I have some gear but putting it all together and using it is a different matter. I would like you two to do this as you do have a great nack of explaining and demonstrating things on your video's.

I'll go with 175 nymphs. I enjoyed the video, nice watch. Shows how you can catch fish on pretty much anything.

It's a decent rod for someone trying out fly fishing for the first time but I prefer my 7# 10 ft airlite v2 for fishing the lochs back home, another great vid Andy and I.B, keep up the good work!!

Thank you for all this great content. How are you able to fish 7x droppers without them wrapping around the standing tippet? You’ve mentioned using tippet rings for your droppers, do they work that well in preventing this? Thank you.

122. I use cheap rods and often catch more fish than the guys I'm fishing with who have top of the range gear. I put it down to the fact I'm always trying new things, rather than just sticking to one tactic.

Good video, i liked how you mention that this rod exposes your cast and, it showed that you are a pro Andy. I mean no disrespect to IB and i'm sure i would be in the same boat, the difference was very clear between you. A normal setup in your videos does not show that stark difference in cast efficiency. I thought of this as a good tool to improve my cast and if i come across a 3.5ft rod in the future at a reasonable price i might get one...+ it might be more usable fore my Daughter :)
