I remember pops getting a pair of these for Christmas when I was a kid in the 80’s. He doesn’t know it but he’ll be getting another this year!

Damn. Why would they only release the Laker colorway for just "Friends & Family?" Very disrespectful for us OGs who've been waiting for YEARS for them to retro again. Smh.

My mom drove me all over town trying to find Magic’s version. The last store we checked had my size and I was living the freaking dream!! Nostalgia is awesome!

The Converse Weapon is the sneaker that got me into shoes. No joke. Got my first pair as a kid when Converse wasn't owned by Nike yet. I've always loved the shoe. When I found out these were coming back on the market, it wasn't a choice. I had to have them. I've had lots of iterations of the shoes in my lifetime, and it's one of my favorite sneakers to this day. I agree that if you're going to release the Larry Bird pair you need to release the corresponding Magic Johnson shoe as well. Anything else is a missed opportunity. But I also think the other colors from the tv commercial should be re-released too. Those have never gotten as much love as these two. Converse should be flooding the market with Weapons right now. Not being cute with little limited releases. We the people want to arm ourselves, Converse. Give us your weapons.

The fact that they’re not releasing the Magic colorway is absolutely baffling to me. They were the first shoe I was obsessed with getting when I was 13 years old in 1986. I was lucky enough to get them back then and was so excited when I saw images of this new pair pop up on social media, but was GUTTED to find out they were Friends & Family only. I’m happy you got a pair because you appreciate them at least, but, from what I’ve heard, several people who received them think Weapons are trash. Such a shame.

I love my undefeated pair, they’re so comfy and the leather is plush. You can’t beat the price either tbh. I need those low tops

I had the Magic's back in the 80s when I was a kid. They have to release them. I don't think I can pull these off now in my 40's, but I would probably buy to display. Thanks for putting a smile on my face with the nostalgia.

They were our team shoes when I was kid. They were every school’s team shoes do to all the colors. Don’t ever wear them to a pool party. If you fall in with these on you will sink to the bottom in seconds.

I had the red, white, and blue ones that they released in the early 2000’s. I absolutely loved them. The insole had a textured surface to the top. I was really hoping that they did that with these but it looks like they didn’t.

Thank you Chris again for supporting the shoe that got me onto sneakers. Sadly Converse's marketing team isn't getting funded or just straight up lacks interest in Converse's history/fans. I know Nike is pulling the strings but even they've come up short for a decade plus now. It actually makes sense that they'd play it safe and only release these. It's been the play book for awhile now. Safe to say now we'll never see the rest of the ERX line, Magic's Signature, more Aero/React stuff, the NBA branded stuff when they had the rights and many more. I've been lucky enough to pick up a couple pairs of weapons and other vintage converse from the few times they figured it out but now they are far past being able to be wore. Anyways solid video again brother.

Been waiting for a proper retro of these for years, and I’m so happy Converse finally did it. Just got my Black pairs and I LOVE them. Superb leather quality, and lots of inner and tongue padding making for an overall comfy shoe, plus the polyurethane insole helps a lot. All that for $120, meanwhile my Jordan retros cost $180 - $250 and leather on those can’t even come close to the Weapons. Do better Jordan brand, do better.



PS. Dear Converse, please release the lakers colorway to the public. I need and WANT them alongside my black Larry Bird pairs. Or better yet, eventually roll out all the original team colorways, having a wall of all them in my place would be the dream.

wow I used to play with those lakers weapons color way. yes it’s true, it’s bottom heavy but those heel support do really works. hoping they do bring them back.

I Remember my Uncle Had The Larry Bird’s, i believe it was 85’ish…!!! It’s an infamous pair of sneakers for my Neighborhood, Mostly Kats we’re wearing Chuck Taylors, Dunks, Puma’s, Cuga’s & Pro Wings from Payless….Black & Red Suede Puma’s was the First Sneaker That Had Our Entire Neighborhood in A Frenzy and Shell Toe Adidas….My Uncle Wore Nothing But Converses All Day Every Day….Only 2 People wore the Air Jordan 1’s Back Then & That Was Buggie & FAT DANTE’(R.I.P.)….when we moved from Dayton Ohio to Middle Tennessee, I finally saw people wearing The Magic’s & The Bird’s….I remember Isaiah Thomas had his Pistons PE

I got my Larry legend weapons last week! It is an absolute dream from when I was a kid. I grew up being the biggest Larry Bird fan, and loved the Celtics. It makes absolutely no sense to me that they wouldn’t release the magic and bird at the same time, that feels like a massive Miss.

I have a friend who is a huge Celtics fan, especially that era, and I found him an original 1986 poster of the choose your weapon ad you showed in the video!
