This further confirms for me how deeply routed music & singing is in the Filipino culture. It's beautiful to see! 🙏🏻
Thank you for all the suggestions. Be sure to send me any other TikToks you find! 💜

Went to high school as an American transfer in the late 90’s in the Philippines. Was shocked that down time between classes or when teachers were absent, the whole class section I was in would just start singing songs. One or two guys would pull out a guitar from like outta nowhere. They’d pass this little booklet with music cords and lyrics called “Song Hits” and it was always like stuff from the 70’s and 80’s you’d probably hear on a radio station in the back country roads of America. I moved back here in 2008 and first time to attend a Catholic mass - then when everyone sings “our father” in Tagalog, I get teary eyed and filled with the same joy and nostalgia of everyone singing out a song from their heart in harmony.

I've never realize that other counties dont just go singing when they feel like it. In the Philippines youll see people singing in the street like its nothing at all. Hope youll visit Philippines and see how beautiful our country is.

I remember when I was in HS when teachers weren’t around someone will whip out a guitar and start playing and everyone just join in singing. We just enjoy music. Not everyone is great singers but we just jam and enjoy music all the same. I miss those days.

The second video of the girl singing 'Maybe This Time' by singer Sarah Geronimo is just a normal scene in classroom when there is a vacant time like after Periodical exams and teacher doesnt have anything to teach yet but there's remaining time before the next subject, so teacher probably asks someone to sing at the front for entertainment (slash intermission number) 😊😂

Music is so normal here that back when I was in highschool, our school finally put on speakers in each classroom, and the chill teachers would connect their phones to the speaker and would play music while we're just taking down notes.

I am a Grade 6-Teacher and i let my students enjoy singing together during breaks, like lunch or after class while some are waiting for their school bus or services. Sometimes i sing with them. It's a good way to bond together.

The FTRC Karaoke is actually not a school "school", it is a review center for those who graduated and wanted to become a Professional Teachers and the one person who's hyping up the singer is actually a lecturer of a certain subject/course

In my time. When I was in High School in the Philippines our teacher chose those students who can sing in front of the class specially during Science Week or High School Celebration & im one of those.. Thank you Sam for loving Filipino talent. I love you bro!

Singing in class started feeling normal to me back in high school. I remember it was actually a form of punishment for us—if we were late, we had to either sing or dance in front of the class! That’s how we started the day, especially for those early 6 or 7 AM classes. It was our little ‘penalty’ for being late! And on the first day of class, everyone had to introduce themselves and show their talents. It became a tradition, and it wasn’t always voluntary. Sometimes, classmates would tease you, and the professor might even join in, so singing in front of the class wasn’t always something you chose—it just happened, haha! Missing school or being late meant you’d be ‘punished’ in front of everyone, so you kind of ended up with a performance, whether you liked it or not!😂😂😂

This is a very typical situation in philippine classrooms. in hs days, students wud have this episode of buying their own guitars and bring it in the classroom the next day onwards and practice how to play them.while some others will gather in circle and sing along with the strumming. Most practice before during in between classes and breaks. Some teachers promote lessons thru singing. Some make it as a graded activity. When someone starts to sing its always impossible that others even the whole class wont be singing along. Its like a therapy that makes us relaxed and bringing the good vibe.

As Filipinos, “Music is our Language”
We express our emotions by singing w/ all our hearts.
Making every note vibrate & resonate soulfully. That’s one of Filipino traits. Not to mention being fun- loving as you can see in your videos.

Love from a Filipino in Denver Colorado US❤❤❤

Those three guys in blue uniform are maritime students. The Philippines, aside from supplying nurses worldwide, is also a source of sailors to man trading ships, cargo ships and also cruise liners.

I am now 50 + of age, even back then during my school days whenever we have nothing to do or the teacher is absent usually our room class president initiated a singing program so as to avoid being noisy and in shamble. Singing is Filipino’s expression of our soul and emotions, it’s embedded to our humanity and culture.

Jammings are a common occurence in our classroom back in highschool and senior, whenever the teacher isn't present it's automatically a singing session. So many memories

I'm a Filipino teacher used to teach Middle School in Malaysia and one of the best times was when I brought in a karaoke portable with mic into class. It was to keep me from yelling and just speaking into the mic calling out students. In the end we ended up singing songs and telling stand up comedy during the down times. They loved it

I am 64 yrs old now. When karaoke was not around. But we have guitar. We pass the guitar to all who hang out along the street. And sing. Filipinos sung from the beginning.

Due to the fact that Filipinos are really great singers, as early as primary school we already have singing contests at school. And kids without a music background (like lessons, coaches, etc.) just amazing voices would compete.

I remember in my college. If you are late, you need to sing in front of the class. One time me and my bestfriend got way late half the time. So we brought a guitar and it was a probably a mini concert. Some would yell "one more!" just to pass the time until class is over. Those years tho. 😂
