People are emotionally fatigued from decades of unfair treatment.

I put this on my election leaflet in 2014:
Re-train unemployed British people to do the jobs we are told immigrants do, instead of more immigration.
I came 2nd.

Unfortunately the labour party has sold out its heritage and history 😕

This is what labour should be about and has traditionally been about.
Labour, like any commodity in a capitalist system, is subject to the laws of supply and demand. The greater the supply..the cheaper that commodity.
If there are more people than jobs then the power resides with the employer as people scrap and fight and accept lower wages to secure the job. When jobs out number people though it is the employers who compete for that limited resource by offering better wages than their competitors

Who's going to tell him this is contrary to Labours Remoaner attitude?

Nice to see Labour eventually coming round to a sensible, British centric position, known to the media as ‘being on the far right’.

But also we need immigrants who accept lower pay? Makes sense.

Seriously what’s the point of Labour?! They are just Tories with a bit more tact. We need proper opposition.

Excess labour only holds wages down if the companies in question are free to choose what their wages are in a private market. If they were in public ownership it wouldn't be an issue.

Hold on I thought that "immigration didn't lower wages for everyone else" that's the commonly held belief amongst people whoa re pro immigration.

Cheap labor comes across the Channel every day of the week. Is he in favor of limiting immigration? If not then higher wages will attract hordes of new illegal immigrants.

Starmer's now against freedom of movement and cheap labour: he's done a U turn. He's also promising to abolish the House of Lords. I'm traditionally a Tory voter but I'm not seeing a difference between Tory and Labour so I'm not voting in 2024.

So industrial robots are not going to help -a robotic assembly plant that I know off replaced the jobs of 63 people -whatever their wage was it fell to zero ..And what makes him think that trade unions will stand by whilst robots costs members their jobs !!!

Can't listen to his nasal whiny voice. We have fallen to really low standards if Keir is the best the Labour Party has got to offer.

If he means this he'll set targets for lower unemployment accepting 4% as low unemployment will negate whatever action he takes. Apprenticeships are fine but they have not had a material affect on employment or pay.

low pay and cheap labour must end, yup... next come increase costs from more expensive waiters, workers, which will pass on to consumers in higher food prices and service fees.
