UV cured resins like these are used extensively in dentistry. After curing there will always be unset material on the surface because Oxygen in the air inhibits the curing process. If you are sticking two materials together, the bonded surfaces keep the Oxygen out and a full cure will result. Any excess resin exposed to the atmosphere will, of course, have an Oxygen inhibited layer. Unfortunately, the materials will also restrict or block penetration of the light, so they're really only suitable for translucent or transparent materials.

I’ve bought several U-V curing glue sets. One worked slowly, Three not at all. I had a U-V laser and the one tube cured quickly, the others never did.
Yes, but it at a local shop so if it doesn’t work, you can take it back.
My wife was a dental hygienist sand worked with the save glue. She told me to use the laser and it worked, when the glue was good, quickly.

Nice to see the (slightly) bigger brother to my CellMeter-7 which although is a little weedy is keeping my 7s pack in perfect balance. Checked the accuracy again after our conversation too. It was spot on :-) Cheers

The filler between the coils of the spring are what allows it to hold its shape through friction

The only thing I dislike about viewing your posts is the fact, for some reason, I immediately go to eBay and buy stuff. Interesting that it's never the same items (or often even related) you show. Just a form of "retail Therapy" I guess. Still keep them coming.

I bought the exact same ultraviolet cured resin glue thing from Banggood. I don't remember the cost but it arrived with batteries and I found it works quite well. I wouldn't buy it from Ebay without batteries included.

A teardown that even BigClive would be proud of. :)

That 5 second fix torch actually has 2 batteries in it connected in series, I know because mine had a hair trigger and would turn on if you looked at it hard. The glue needs a bright uv light which is what that light gives with good batteries in it and will harden the glue in about 1 second.

That glue thing.. Every one knows that glue likes to bond in secret. That's why 2 surfaces pressed together is needed :D
Nah just joking :P
Those goosenecks looks interesting, they kind of reminds me of my 28 LED light which I use with a powerbank. That little LED light you put in there, could be replaced with a high power one. I've got myself a Cree (probably a clone) one from Nixsun. It draws about 500 mAh and outputs a quite bright light at maximum setting. It has 3 constant light settings + 1 flashing.
Just mentioned it since you like stuff that can do things :)

Mine had batteries from the start. But I usually use another stronger uv flashlight instead. It's pretty good glue, for quick fix.

Julian the postal service will no longer permit anything containing these type of batteries to go through the service. They will be seized if detected.

Hi Julian, Though I let you know, you can get 1620's from the usual £1 suspects; they do come on different packets though. Thanks for the videos.

Instead of cutting the USB thingy, I would use an YZXStudio ZL1100. This thing generates a load up to 3A. First it's connected directly to the power source, and a baseline is taken. Then reconnected through the cable to be measured. The ZL1100 then shows the exact voltage drop, and the cable's resistance. I could diagnose many brownout problems with this device, mostly when powering the Raspberry Pi ;)

i had bought some of the 5 second fix and some bondic and they both worked as advertised and the bought some cheap stuff off ebay and it was about like what you have there but the real stuff is pretty cool

+Julian Ilett if you walk into any nail salon, you can get your nails done with a similar stuff to that glue. They apply a clear lacquer and then seal them with UV. Im betting its cheaper and more effective than that glue ? Great videos mate, keep doing your stuff!

You should check the USB cable quality by measuring the voltage drop across it at a fixed current e.g. 500mA or 1A

Hi Julian, a quick search shows that to send 2.5A down a cable of 1m at 5V 2% loss requires 17awg or around 1.5 mmSQ. haha i have not yet seen a usb cable with 17awg wire yet, im honestly thinking of making my own usb charging cable next. love the vids, keep up the good work :)

I was sure the gooseneck USB extension was going to be used with the little circuit boards with white LEDs that plug into a USB socket that you were playing with a while back

You could have put the Usb meter in front of 1 extension cable, measure the voltage at 2 Amps and then put it behind the extension, measure again und you can calculate the resistance. Might be a good use for your adjustable current source :)
