In between songs at one of his shows, he asked the audience if anyone there played guitar. One guy shouted out, "Not anymore!"

Let's all just take a moment to realise how fortunate we are to live in a time when we can sit on our couch and watch phenomenal content like this. In times past, unless you had industry contacts or went to an elite music school, there's no way you would have this kind of access to this kind of info and education. Thank you Rick, Tommy, and all those who work behind the scenes editing and producing to bring us this magical content. I've just come off a day-long bender of poisoning my mind with social media, hating myself and what the internet has become, and I see and hear this and suddenly I feel better about the world. Keep up the phenomenal work, folks. "If you get confused, just listen to the music play".

Several years ago, I took my husband to Tommy's concert. He wasn’t thrilled about it at first, thinking that watching one guy play guitar without singing would be pretty boring. However, after just one song, he was mesmerized by Tommy’s performance. By the end of the concert, he was hooked and spent the following weeks obsessively listening to Tommy’s music. His playing truly is something magical. Thank you Rick for bringing him to talk to you and us again.

When Rick tries to praise him at the end Tommy turns it back to praise Rick. Class.

Rick is so good at knowing when to STFU. Very important and rare attribute.

Two things to note about Tommy: 1) Arguably the greatest acoustic guitarist of all time. 2) As a person he exceeds his ability as a guitarist. Talk about a legacy. This man sits atop the throne.

I opened some shows for him. It was VERY intimidating to play guitar after hearing him do a brief (devastating) soundcheck, but he was super encouraging and sweet. He actually came out during my opening set and danced to the music! The crowd went nuts. Just the coolest guy.

Rick, I've been watching your interviews for years now and realized I've never even subscribed. These interviews, particularly with Tommy, bring so much insight and joy to your fans. Thank you for what you do and we all hope you continue to do so! ✌😎

I’m the stage manager in a concert hall in Oslo, and on the 2nd February I had the greatest of pleasures and privileges to have Tommy grace our stage. I have experienced many concerts, and Tommy’s show went straight into the select club of my favorite gigs I can count on one hand. It truly was a standout life experience. Brilliant, breathtaking and beautiful.

All the anecdotes you will read are true, not just his music, but also his down to earth, enthusiastic, humble and friendly personality. He is a genuine angel and the message he brings is a bright burning light.

Thank God for Tommy Emmanuel. 🙏🏽🔥❤️‍🔥🔥

I love how he doesn't despise other styles (like Taylor Swift, Nirvana, etc). He perfectly shows how it's worth listening to all kind if styles and not being above it. A real musician doesn't need to badmouth other artists.

I love watching Beato when he has guests playing on his show. Like a kid in a toy store. All smiles

51:31 Tommy said it all. Rick, you're a treasure - documenting musical history by making these artists so comfortable and asking the right questions without interrupting. What a talent.

I saw him play last night on his 70th birthday in Adelaide, and this is my takeaway ... there are exceptionally great musicians, then there are world class musicians, and then there are the masters, but then there is Tommy Emmanuel — in a class of his own, simply unbelievable.

Here is the man that inspired me to become a professional musician and guitar teacher. In 1980 Tommy and his brother Phil did a show at my high school in Canberra Australia. It was incredible! Hearing and seeing how much fun they were having playing and duelling up on stage changed me forever. I was already 2 years into learning the guitar, and boy did I start practicing like a girl possessed after that concert! Thank you Tommy. To know that you’re still inspiring and entertaining the world with your incredible talent is truly a gift to the world.
God Bless!

These interviews NEED to be on the Library of Congress. These are the BEST of music! Incredible, Rick!

*Tommy Emmanuel is the real MVP of making one guitar sound like a whole band. My fingers hurt just watching him!*

I’m 70 years old…been playing guitar for60 years, and I played very well. 2 years ago I tripped in my yard, fell on my left hand (fretting hand) and the knuckles of my index and middle finger burst through the palm of my hand. I cannot tell you how important Tommy has been for my journey…I’ll never play the same but I think I am playing better, different and so much to learn in this new paradigm…and I won’t stop.

Has anyone in history loved playing the guitar more than Tommy? His joy is truly contagious.
