Ukrainian forces aren't invincible so these critical equipment losses are inevitable. It's important that acknowledge the losses on both sides in order for us to accurately gauge the outcome of this war. Slava Ukraine.

I don't believe they would deploy a white unit especially that close to the front line where drones are. Something doesn't seem right.

- Painted bright white
- Unnecessarily within Lancet range (250km vs 40km)
- surrounded by trees which interfere with radar

No camouflage is very strange.
Also, shouldn't the radar be able to detect a drone and wouldn't the troop defending it have AA missiles?

It is one of those Czech blow-up ones they bought a few months back. The slope on to top-side of the cab roof is a give-away. Oh, plus it is white, and that has limited camo-efficacy in a stand of trees.

There are a lot of decoys out there for sure. I have seen some decoy S400s built where I live. It was an old trailer with some pipe painted green. Lots of Ukrainians here. Even before the war.

Wouldn't AFU place the radar out of reach of lancet drones, which is about 50 km.
Iris T has a reach of 250 km.
Means there would be still a lot of it's range left, when placing them out of reach of lancets.

Also AFU know exactly how important a proper camouflage is.

It would be extremely stupid from Ukraine to send an unpainted/white TRML4D where it isn't needed as much as in other regions and where it is not protected against drones by systems like Gepard.

Doesn´t matter if its a decoy or original, the factory in germany still stands.

why tf would they not have put cammo on it well before deployment anyway.

Before seeing this, I was already pretty sure for many reasons that UAF have conducted an elaborate feint, to convince the Russians of an imminent mass river crossing, which is why the Russians panicked and blew the dam. I don't think UAF actually would have attempted a contested crossing, because it would be suicidal, as we saw at Bilohorivka. I doubt UAF expected the dam to be blown, the intention was to divert resources from other fronts. So given the location, I'm very inclined to believe this was a decoy and the colour tends to confirm this.

Germany sent a large number of HX cargo trucks, identical to IRIS-T vehicles, so a convincing replica can easily be built. The scattering of personnel upon attack adds to the realism. Given how incredibly valuable the radar is, I find it implausible that the UAF wouldn't have spent a couple of days painting it before deployment. But the UAF obviously wanted this to be seen, and assumed to be a real air defense system, because the purpose of it was not simply to attract fire, but to convince the enemy of an upcoming offensive from this direction.

As tragic and horrific as the dam breech has been, the waters will recede in a couple of weeks, and the Russians no longer have this threat available to deter any large slow advance across the Dneiper delta, which could still be attempted later once the Russians are stretched thin by assaults elsewhere. This means that the Russians now need to commit far more resources to adequately defend this area, which was previously very lightly manned. And to top it off they have destroyed their own defense lines with the flood.

Some believe it is a decoy, which would be very possible.

I can’t imagine the Ukrainians would deploy a bright white piece of important equipment in a location where it would be vulnerable.

Its a rotating radar. Strange to place it between trees. The trees would block much of the sight.

I'm certainly wishing it's a decoy...

I find it hard to believe that this is a real IRIS-T system. All the truck parts are painted a bright white. I mean WTF? If you google IRIS-T images, I cannot find any photos of IRS-T systems painted bright white - they are all painted either military green or a desert brown.
So, seriously, why do YOU think this is a real IRIS-T? Just because the Russians said so? Why would anybody paint these things a bright white color, unless it was a decoy?

These losses are sad but we have to deal with it. Seems to be that the TRML radar was not destroyed, but damages (German sources). These are Iris T systems that were produced for Egypt with a very brighty sandy camoflage, which is not working in the green woodlands. Should be adapted - the TRMSL radar costs 50 millions €...and, yes, German sources say that the counter offensive finally started in the Zaporizhzhia area with heavy fighting, involved are leooard 2 tanks. Fingers crossed for Ukraine!!!

This System was originaly made for egypt. It is Not white it is in Dessert Camo. German Gouvernement insistet to deliver it to Ukraine. My Info is that the Radar is fine but the truck is lightly damaged. Because the drone hit the ground ca 8 meters away. Regards from Germany
