A Ukrainian Mig-29 was hit by a Lancet drone at Dolgintsevo Airbase near Kryvyi Rih, 65 kilometers from the frontlines. This is beyond the known max range of the Lancet drone, suggesting Russia has increased its range to around 70 kilometers or more.

Russia's new tactic of attacking military targets is certainly unexpected.

Dang at least they are not hitting civilian infrastructures for once.

Ukraine acknowledged Russia improved its capabilities with the drones and has already adjusted by moving the aircraft farther from the Frontline

It does not look like lancet x wing, looks more like some classical plane-shaped wing. What is more concerning is a second drone that was filming as it is high above horizon and does not look like it is detected.

This video shows just how inaccurate their drones are, since this drone was supposed to take out the grocery store a few blocks away.

Unfortunate. Ukraine needs to base their aviation further inland or they risk more drone strikes

I'm from Kryvyi Rih, I remember how before that they attacked a "military object", killed as much as one policeman, and many people were injured. An acquaintance told how glass flew into the eyes of her colleagues' faces. And there was also a 9-story apartment building. One child was among the dead. They were collected in parts. And here they surprised me, they really attacked a military object.

another good reason to give the Gripen...no air bases, dispersed operability

Good analysis!! Hopefully Ukraine will learn from this.

The explosion appeared quite-small compared to other Lancet strikes. This Lancet was likely carrying a reduced-payload to maximise it's range. Wind-conditions may also have been favourable.

Let's be fair about this. Prior to this strike the Orcs didn't show they had the capability to hit that far with a drone. Now that they've shown the capability something will have to be done.
First, move the planes.
Second, try to ID the drone used and its range. There's a lot of unanswered question the Ukrainians have to figure out.

Seems like there is a possibility that these Migs could be decoys? Who the heck would park 4 aircraft that close to the front?

Such valuable context! Thank you Suchomimus!

Baffling why multiple lancets weren’t in flight at once. Could be a trial run.

Its really concerning...no anti air action either for the lancet or the filming drone....Agree, its a bit arrogant, keeping them so close is not very smart, dont underestimate Your enymy( even if they are Russians)

Thank you Sherlock Suchomimus for covering this. I wasn't sure if the video was a bunch of "twaddle" or not, giving the fact that the airbase was destroyed in the beginning of the war and I wasn't sure if Ukraine had fix it recently or not. So thanks for covering it and raising the awareness of these new longer Lancet drones Russia has now. Russia had also claimed that they hit a Su fighter there, but I'm pretty sure now that one was a bunch of twaddle seeing how there is no video of it and it didn't look like there were any Su's there, just Migs. It was stupid leaving those there. Russia has hit Kryviy Rih successfully multiple times. I'm pretty confident Ukraine will solve this issue, and not with car tires either.

Holy crap, that MiG's livery is absolutely gorgeous! I hope the plane can be repaired.

I was hoping it was a decoy considering how unprotected it was
