In 1914, the Battleship Texas was considered the most powerful weapon in the world. Throughout her career, she led advancements in gunnery, aviation, and radar technology. As a veteran of both World Wars, she is now the world's last surviving Dreadnought. During her 34 years of service, she was home to tens of thousands of sailors and marines from across the nation, carrying their history with her. Decommissioned and transformed into a museum and memorial on April 21st, 1948-the 112th anniversary of Texas winning its independence-Battleship Texas, seven decades later, still stands as strong as the state she was named after and as a symbol of US naval power.
