I'm so glad she's finally getting the overhaul and care she needs now.

After returning to normandy after re-arming it they found that the allied forces had driven the enemy so far inland it guns could no longer reach them. So it closed into 3000 yards of the beach, the closest it could without running aground. They then flooded the blister tanks on the starboard side so the the guns were more elevated thus allowing the guns to once again reach the enemy,
THEY LITERALLY GANGSTER LEANED THE ENTIRE BATTLESHIP SO THAT THEY COULD CONTINUE TO DROP WARHEADS ON FOREHEADS!!!

This thing is a legend!! I had the privilege and the honor to serve as a tour guide for a summer which included "nightwatch" duty when we would have visitors stay overnight (boyscouts and such). If I recall correctly she had ten 14 inch guns, was laid down in 1911 and launched in 1912 serving in the Tampico Incident, numerous operations in the north sea in WW1 and continuing all the way through WW2 (fun fact she only had one exactly one death as a result of action and his name is "Chris" Christensen - it is said he still walks aboard the ship). It was such a joy to be aboard turning off all my electronics and just going back to simpler times listening to the ol' goodies of the 40's and seeing how sailors ate, washed their clothes, the barber shop and of course if you had enough money left over some good ol' ice cream. Red lights at night and walking around the deck at 2 or 3 in the morning was also most unforgettable. There is still alot of restoring to do but when I was on board most of the officers section was nearing completion. There are decks below completely off limits and much of the ship still desired but with time and care I know she will continue to share her story for many generations to come.

The last surviving Dreadnought era battleship (possibly ship period) in the world to my knowledge. Such a beauty. I can only imagine the stories she could tell if she could talk. I do hope she gets the TLC she deserves soon.

<me gets nostalgic seeing these old dreadnoughts>
Me: Hanz, get your gear, we will save the last great grand nephew of HMS Dreadnought and make her seaworthy once more again!
Hanz: Jawohl!

During the week in the early afternoon in the spring or fall in the mid-90's, I would sit on the park benches near the USS Texas and watch the big ships sail past the petrochemical plants. There were quite a few times when I would go aboard and be the only visitor on the whole battleship. Of course, it was in much better shape back then.

they should turn this into a hotel boat. and do sailing tours, imagine spending a weekend out at sea on this and seeing the big guns fire. would be amazing

I've played this ship so many times on WowL it's kinda weird to see the actual ship like this. She looks like she needs a paint job.

BB-35 Texas needs to be put in a graving dock. That would be the best for the ship and the visiting tourists. Routine maintenance required would drop 80%.

How come all the anti-aircraft pieces were disassembled from the ship? Shouldn't she have remained in the original state?

They need to clean up that rust. Something this amazing needs to have maintenance done to it.
