Why would anyone want to become a doctor?

My son is at Mercer working towards his MD. He is so happy! He worked so hard. Medicine is a passion you cannot ignore.

The ulterior motive is so true. My personal motivation to get into nursing was for the money only and I wasted my money and time on schooling that I hated and it was so sad. I couldn't duplicate the passion that I saw from nurses or doctors that took care of me. Now I'm in the veterinary field making $16 an hour and will max out at like $23 at the end of my career but I finally found my calling and reason to get up in the morning. Everyone has their own purpose and it's amazing when you find it.

It is your true calling! My nephew said when he was 8 yrs old he was going to be a catholic priest. He has been ordained 8 yrs now. I appreciate all of the years of sacrifice. Well said. You are where you are meant to be. Doing what you were created to do. I agree if someone is after money only this life could be hell. Have to love it to transcend the unpleasant parts.

People love to say we only go into medicine for the money, but as my pre med advisor told me once… “if you go into this profession for money, you’re fooling yourself” because it’s TRUE. There’s much faster ways to make money and become very wealthy. Being a doctor is not one of them. 10-12 years before you even get the big bucks, and by then you’re hundreds of thousands in debt.

Don't forget nutrition you aspiring drs. 🌿🌿🌿 High quality vitamins ONLY ... Superfood diet, lots of nutritious superfood, get as much Sunlight as you can, air - breathing exercises open windows etc, proper rest, regular exercise, etc very important- to not getting sick at an older age. Hugs.

Exactly. It is a tough sacrifice. And very stressful work. People just think they know others without getting to know them and it makes me sick to my stomach at times. It is just not right to make such bale assumptions about anyone..
