This is my first spy video of the C8 Corvette ZR1 during first laps on the Nürburgring. The team of Chevy-engineers had some trouble with the sound of the ZR1, because it was louder than 130 dB and they had to change the exhausts for their test purposes, otherwise they would have been banned from the Nürburgring. When that was done on all four Chevy C8 Corvette ZR1 prototypes they could start testing before the rain came in over Nürburg and they had to stop again.
For a first impression, the power and performance of this ZR1 is already impressive at this test stage.

No question it's turbo just hearing the exhaust and no whine. My turbo truck sounded pretty much the same under boost. My blower trucks totally different. I may need another Vette. Definitely a keeper.

Z06 sounds like a Ferrari, ZR1 sounds like a McLaren.

Sounds like V8 with flat-plane crank and turbocharged...

DOHC cross plane crank using the same 5.5L block. Sounds smooth but the mid range has a cross plane growl that a flat plane smooths out much more. Difficult to tell though

They made such a cool sounding LT6 engine for the Z06 ... why didn't they supercharge it, like they usually do instead of turbocharging this time ... that Z06's LT6 engine with supercharger whine would've sounded insane

I was driving north from GA last week, and I was sure that I saw one on a transport from Bowling Green. It had the shipping cover on it, but you could clearly see the hood and high wing.

Its official. That is a twin turbo flat plane v8. You can hear how violent the exhaust flow is with the turbos. 100%
