When 7 came out there might've been people who weren't a big fan of Ethan, but if it wasn't for 7 and Ethan Resident Evil wouldn't be back to being horror and probably just still another shooter. Ethan deserves being up there in the conversation for best RE protagonist cause he was just not an ordinary guy, but the definition of a selfless family man. Was everything you'd expect a father to be and his entire story throughout 7 and 8 can be summed up with the question "How far would you be willing to go to protect the people you love?"
