Yeah I don't think it's a real sport either💯 power lifting is more of a sport than bodybuilding.

You're completely correct. I think people just don't like the idea that it's compared to modelling because modelling sounds dainty whereas bodybuilding positions itself as something manly. Once you look at it objectively it's clearly not a sport (although something to still be respected).

FWIW, people also say sports are male soap operas so I think people should just stop being bothered by the modelling comparisons lol

Bodybuilding is more of an art form than a sport. But PEDs have taken away from the art of training.

Calisthenics is a sport. There are competitions where people show what they can do with their muscles, whether for muscular endurance or static strength skills.

It’s a competition to see who can starve themselves the most without dying.

If bodybuilding is a sport then people appearing for a exam should also be a sport.

I think it comes down to the fact that that when people talk about bodybuilders they think of mr Olympias while those types of physiques are rare and only possible due to steroids whereas natural bodybuilders do not come close to that size . So they are actually in fact healthy

It's not and will never be a sport

Strongman, powerlifting/olympics is definately a sport, depending on the event calisthentics comes in for example if we were to call gymanstics/ swimming/ diving a sport because they perform a variety of poses and stunts in order to get a better score for execution.

So if the event contains calisthenic execution and scoring it can be considered a sport, anything that purely judges based on aestetic is definately just a beauty pagent and honestly should be disrespected due to the steroids and other bullshit.

Spot on.
I'll add that if there was a way to build muscular, lean and balanced physique without training, bodybuilders wouldn't even train, thus demonstrating that it's not a sport with intrinsic physical demands.

Bodybuilding is referred to as a “sport” as a way of categorising it. It is, of course not a sport as your performance is not what is judged but rather the look, which classifies it as a pageant. It would just be weird to refer to it as the “pageant” of bodybuilding e.g. referring to top bodybuilders as top contestants in the pageant, doesn’t sound right, we just call them the top athletes in the sport…nobody with common sense thinks it’s a genuine “sport”

It’s not a sport, it’s a beauty pageant for muscular men and women… and it’s very subjective judging. No show of physical performance, score, skills, strategy.

“Posing takes skills” yeah sure… So does grooming a dog for a dog pageant show. But even then it’s subjective to breed, fur, genetics, how they walk down, bark etc.

I guess it can be considered an art form, while some others would say a "Male Beauty Pageant."

It should be noted that body building in fact did have performances in the past.
