How to Buy a Military Humvee

Did you know you can actually buy a military Humvee? Here’s how.
The Humvee has been the standard multi-purpose vehicle of the US military since the 1980s and it boasts weapons such as .50 caliber machine guns and TOW anti-tank missile launchers.
If you want to own a military Humvee you’ll need to find a dealer that sells vehicles purchased directly from a military base. Prices typically range from $6 to 12,000 depending on the Humvee’s condition. But just buying the Humvee isn’t the end of the process.
You’ll also need to cut through red tape if you want to drive these around town. Since they are sold as off-road vehicles, they lack license plates and registration. Some states practically make these impossible to get for offloaded military surplus, but in many states, you’ll be able to apply for a title using the Humvee’s military serial number. This process will take time, but at the end of it, you’ll be driving your military Humvee. Without the machine guns and TOW missiles, of course.

The Humvee actually entered service in 1989. It saw limited combat in Panama and serious combat in 1991 in the Gulf.

M1097 you don’t have to worry about weapons.

A lot of the surplus ones sold are very questionable. Might be missing the engine, transmission or both. And a diesel engine for one is not cheap.

As a US Army vet, I can say, without a doubt, That I would NEVER own a military spec HMMVEE. They're gigantic but the spaces for individuals are tiny.
As big as they are, there are only 4 seats with a HUGE wasted space in between that the military uses for radios and as a platform for the roof gunners to use
The seats are designed, probably for someone of less than 5 feet tall to drive comfortably, the steering wheels are maybe half the size of a normal one and, not only that, it is extremely wide and drinks fuel like it's a sponge
But on the positive side, you can still drive on 3 wheels if you have to
