I'm pretty sure my first 100-200 hours in DRG were almost exclusively solo.
Yes, solo missions can take a while, and yes, the game is absolutely best played with friends.

I originally discovered the game through Strippin and Crendor though, back in 2018, so the fact that Dodger never heard of it until now is kind of a miracle tbh.

The only way I can play solo is as the scout. I need the grappling hook for mobility, and utilizing the drone to dig and carry things is crucial.

There are perks to playing DRG solo, Bosco can get almost anything if u can ping it. Also it can help u build pipelines and if ure playing scout u can always keep kiting the mobs with your grappling hook and Bosco eventually will kill most of them with his unlimited ammo

I've played DRG entirely solo. Currently I have 263.2 hours in it. I can use any class on most maps but I prefer to use the Scout on certain missions where the map tends to be quite awful to get around on like for the crystal gathering.

This game is super fun just running with randoms every round bc of how great the community is.

Its only after having a pretty good understanding of the game did I find it fun to go solo with your lil robot pal Bosco

Bosco picks up a lot of the slack if you are on your own, fetch and carry, build, mine, shoot, he gets it done.

Some missions are just a chore on your own though, luckily you can just host an open lobby and have randoms drop in.

I feel this. A lot of games anymore are designed as group experiences, and as I grow... increasingly deep into my agoraphobia stage of paranoid social anxiety, I find it harder to actually try and schedule things with my friends/family so I just end up not playing those kinds of games.

Deep Rock Galactic is one of those, though things like Darktide and even FF14 have kind of fallen off a bit for me because the good memories I have of those genres are *with* people and I am just increasingly a lone operator these days. Was excited initially for Marvel Rivals but then the reality of it made me more disappointed (in myself moreso then the game), and I think that's probably the biggest reason I haven't pushed myself to try and find a new MOBA.

That got long. Point stands, though! One less pornbot for engagement!

I think when I started out with DRG it would take me an hour to complete long missions solo. Now I can do it in 40 minutes or less cause I know what to look for and easy ways to access hard to reach areas. However playing with friends definitely cuts that time in half. We can zoom through maps in 15 - 30 minutes easily.

(except this one map when we had gold dropping bugs, the pots of gold beer buff, and a golden bulk detonator blow up in a cave. It took so long to collect and deposit the gold and we didn't even get it all cause we ran out of nitra for resupplies).

I enjoy it solo and with friends. Molly is a good companion. The game feels like a whole different beast alone.

The game is designed to be played with 4 people. You sort of need all 4 classes to play of each other to complete levels efficiently.

I feel like I should have just bought DRG back when first heard about it and just play it with randoms instead of trying to suggest it to a friend of mine.

Now I'm considering Helldivers 2, which I will play with randoms if my friend is not available and I don't know if would have room for another co-op game.

I also have a huge backlog. I want to continue my playthrough of Persona 5 Royal that I put on hold a while ago.
