Don't have to use cement with these boards for baths and showers? So you can use the same mortar as what the tiles use?

Nice video and I now suspect that my contractor has overcharged me for some items - 750 cement backer screws for a 15x4 ft area wall space of Hardie Backer HydroDefence board? 🧐

I have more questions:
1. Can I use self-adhesive alkalai resistant fiberglass mesh tape on the seams and screw heads without putting some sort of thinset underneath the tape? (I see FibaTape has an alkalai safe mesh)
2. Do I need to moisture seal over the seams and screw holes if I'm using a glue-up surround?
3. Since "modified thinset" was recommended, can I use that as a top coat over the tape? Or can I use something like Easysand?
4. Can I simply paint over any exposed areas that are not covered by a glue-up surround with some sort of latex paint?
5. Do I need 1/4" gap between the bottom of the board & the edge of a tub (my tub has no flange) or can I go with 1/8"?
6. Is Flex Seal ok for sealing over the tape?
7. If thinset is not required when used with self-adhesive tape, is painting over with something like redguard or flex seal OK (since I will be covering it with glue-up wall surround?)
I couldn't fit all of these questions on the sites for big box stores and am hoping to get some answers here.

You showed no way to finish where the floor and walls meet. It said use caulk why not show installation completely? Would like to see how the two meet.

question about the screw depth. i understand the screws are supposed to be flush and the top of the screw not sunken in the board. but i’m having a hard time getting them flush without having some of the board get bunched up around the top of the screw (like a little bit of a bubble around the screw). i see in the video some of hos screws look like that too so assuming that’s ok. ???

Can this be used behind glue-up wall surrounds for showers and tubs?

This product is 100% water proof? So you can imbed it in the mortar bed and it won't wick?

Would you use 5-6inch waterproof tape for corners and the wall to floor seam?

So this is basically the same as the regular hardie, you just don't have to coat the entire wall in red guard. Might as well cover the whole thing since i have to buy red guard anyways. Or I'm i missing something

I don’t see the screw length, only nail length

Why You Donot Show To People
The Right Side Of Your Board ???
Why Did You Make A 36 inches X
60 Inches If The Next Wood Beam
Is At 64 Inches ???

If I need to use waterproofing (redguard in this case) and am gonna need to redguard the seems and holes then why not just use Durock for half the price of this Hardie Board. In both cases I need to buy the Redguard and although I need to cover the entirety of the Durock still cheaper as I had to buy the Redguard anyway for the Hardie. Makes no economical sense. Durock used for years and does not fail. I say nogo on this overpriced quality board.
