4 MONTH BABY DEVELOPMENT MILESTONES | Using Ages and Stages(ASQ3) to Measure Growth & Activities

You have officially made it out of the fourth trimester and have a four month old now! This month, your little one becomes much more interested in the world around them, practicing laughing, bringing things to their mouth, and sitting up in your lap! Using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire, I go over all of the developmental milestones for your 4 month old baby and the types of activities you can do that are age appropriate for development and growth. The Ages and Stages Questionnaire really helped me out with my NICU grad, and I wanted to share these milestones with you, too.

I started showing my baby the pacifier most times before giving it to him then I started presenting it to him and he started grabbing my hand with the pacifier to move it closer to his mouth. Now he grabs the pacifier and tries (unsuccessfully) then gives it back to me and moves my hand with the pacifier towards his mouth. My family thinks I'm crazy but I think he knows what he's doing. He will also push my hand away when I present the pacifier and he doesn't want it (can confirm by giving it to him anyway and he spits it right out). This started around 3 months 2 weeks.

So rolling and bearing weight in their legs isn’t part of 4 month milestones? Also, for the first section, is a “yes” for if the baby talks at toys or you every time? Or if they laugh every time you try to get them to? My sone laughs when tickled or if we are actively trying to get him to laugh most of the time, but if he is tired or really stimulated in a new place, then he will not laugh and sometimes will avoid looking at us bc he is either looking at all the new stuff around or he is tired and doesn’t want to be stimulated.
