Depreciation is a real killer. After five years replacing a battery after accident damage is more than the car is worth. Average age of gas cars on the road is approximately 14 years old, with many a lot older. No EV will last that long even if you store it. The battery begins to age from day one. If it lasts ten years you're lucky and by then it's worthless except for scrap. They are a rich person's luxury.

I had a MG5 EV, I backed it after 6 month, I charged it every day, costs more to charge than petrol. Nightmare every night for 6 month. I can go on and on as to why not to buy one.

EV insurance has to be high because they burn for no reason in your garage and take the house to, Hertz car rental got rid of them the upkeep was to much.

My insurance more than doubled this last renewal with Aviva and when I enquired why I was told that one of the reasons was that it was costing them more to repair electric cars than they anticipated. I replied that I drive a diesel car and I have no interest in subsidising electric cars….. hence I now have cover elsewhere…!!

Here in America, my commercial insurance more rhan doubled. Never had a claim or violation. My personal vehicles went up a little. All gas cars. I know a few people with ev's that are going back to gas.

The president of the US doesn’t even own one himself and probably wouldn’t own one given the chance. Politicians who yell about gas vehicles are always getting caught pretending to ride bikes to work, drive an electric car, or walking.

in regards to insurance, have ev owners house insurance risen as well, if they have a charger fitted to the outside wall . bearing in mind there is more chance of a fire happening than a house that doesnt have one fitted.

I've also heard that even small accidents can cause an EV to be considered as a total loss due to unknown damages that may have occurred to the battery.

The amount of time you have to wait for the charger to start charging and disconnecting, you would at least think they would put them undercover if it's was raining you would be dripping wet by now

Everyone’s insurance has gone up sharply as folk will find out when they renew mine went up 30% for no reason my theory is the cost of repairing EVs is being passed on to everyone

I saw a guy sitting in his car at tescos charging it up. I came back out after doing some shopping and he’s still there. Who has that sort of time to waste. I’ve got work to do. The shopping alone cost me too much time. Time is money also.

Yes my ICE car insurance practically doubled this year from £178 to £335. I hate EVs.
