How to Turn a Plain Skirt into A Romantic Layered Maxi Skirt

Thrifted skirt, turned into a lovely romantic layered piece of wearable art! This is a rare step by step tutorial showing you how to create a beautiful altered couture skirt, and I did it all on a dime! I start with a thrifted skirt and show you how to build luscious layers with clothing remnants, lace, tablecloths, fringe, fabric flowers, sequins and more. Then...we dye it a beautiful light blue color with Kentucky sky Dyemore fabric dye. Create your own pieces of wearable art (I have tons of tutorials) to wear, give as gifts or sell like I did. Most of all have fun and don't take it to seriously!

Our Dear Ms. Myers: Wonderful!! Thank you so much for showing us the post-dryer/trim/clean-up portion of the process, and especially for the extended and closer up after-shots. What a great channel you have! 😊

Thank you for your careful instruction, yet you moved the instructions along quickly. The finished skirt is exquisite and certainly one of a kind. I would be so proud to wear this skirt. I have started collecting a few items to use . I’m thinking that dying the skirt red would be fun and very much for the holiday season .Later it could be for the Valentine’s season.

Hey, YouTube just suggested this video to me. So glad I clicked! This was an excellent tutorial, even for someone who's done a fair bit of upcycling clothing

This was a whole EDUCATION!!! 😁

Good God woman! I couldn't love this skirt anymore if you tortured me in an attempt to squeeze more love out of me!!!

It is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! 😍😍😍

I don't know where you've been hiding but I'm glad I found you. I'm definitely subscribing after this. This was literally incredible.

I think my only suggestion would be to tuck the top into the skirt so it's closer to your body, just to highlight your upper and lower body with more definition.

At the moment the top bagging out makes you look bigger than you are and you've got a nice slim waist.

Plus a sleeker looking top would accentuate the skirt even more, rather than detract from it.

But that's not criticism at all, just my opinion. I'm a kind of "either upper or lower body wow factor" kind of person, you know? Big billowy tops with straight jeans, or simple jersey vest tops with billowy skirts.

But hey, you do you! I think we're approximately the same age, and if I had a dinky lil waist still, I'd be highlighting it. You sure do have a lot going for you!!!

You're very attractive, have a lovely figure, very stylish, artistic and make skirts like this masterpiece! 😮

I can't wait to dive into your other videos now! If your inspiration can help me become even a quarter of looking as put-together as you, I'll be a happy woman! 😘😘😘

I have come upon your channel and am going to make a boho duster. Though I have this lace that may be Belguim 19th century lace. Two curtain panels and am asking should I go ahead and cut into pieces, can I send you a pic and get your advice

Great skirt for a tall person. Being 5 foot 4 inches in height, I have to be careful to not weigh myself down with too much fabric on my lower half.
A tall lady will look quite elegant in this garment.

I want to thank you for allowing us to see when you change your mind, such as when you decided to cut your skirt shorter because you wanted the lace ruffle a little higher. I appreciate you showing us how you make decisions and changes as you go along working on your projects. I often begin with an idea, then add or change something. I thought that perhaps I did not plan well enough. But, you have shown me that, being able to add or subtract from my project is just part of the process and not a defect! Thank you! ❤️
