How to Make a Plain Omelette

Mahalo cooking expert Judith Jones shows you how to make a plain omelette.

Ingredients
---------------------------------------------------------------------

1 tbsp olive oil* 1/2 tbsp butter
* 3 large eggs
* Salt and pepper, to taste 

Equipment
---------------------------------------------------------------------

* Frying pan
* Burner
* Spatula
* Bowl
* Whisk


Directions
---------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Place the frying pan on the burner over medium heat and pour in olive oil.2. Add the butter and allow it to melt. Make sure it coats the bottom of the pan.3. Crack eggs into a separate bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste. Whisk the eggs until the yolks are completely stirred in.4. Once the butter is melted completely, pour the egg mixture into the pan.5. With your spatula, push eggs towards the center of the pan so that they get a chance to cook evenly.6. Let the eggs set for a while, though you can occasionally tip the pan so that the eggs that are still runny can be spread out over the heat.7. Run your spatula around the edge of the omelette so that it doesn't stick or break.8. Once the omelette is almost completely set, place your spatula under it and flip over half of it so that it resembles a half-moon shape. Continue to let it cook until the eggs are no longer runny.10. Remove the eggs from the skillet with a spatula and transfer onto a plate.

Tips on Cooking Time

When cooking your omelette, the longer you leave it on the burner, the harder the eggs will get. Try experimenting with how you like your eggs and omelettes. If they turn out too soft, cook them longer next time. If they're too hard, remember to cook them less. It's all about trial and error.c

But if there is nothing inside, not even cheese, then why not just make scrambled eggs? Then they're nice and curly!

@FlixZl Yes, you could get salmonella from under cooking it, however, so long as it's not super runny and is pretty solid when your done, it's fine.

Steam the top side till cooked then fold and surve. That's not cooked!

I think it was still raw on the inside T_T you should've cut it in half so we can check
