Senator Lankford (R) of OK and Senator Murphy (D) co-authored, with others, the Border Bill that was a bipartisan effort (4 months of work) assigned to Lankford by R. Majority Leader McConnell. That proposal was handed to the House which tabled that legislation in committee and refused to bring such a bill to the floor for amendments or a vote, per Speaker Johnson. When Johnson signed a bill to release aid to Ukraine asnd Israel (already agreed upon in the Senate) a motion to vacate the Speakership was offered by Marjorie Taylor Green. That vote failed only because enough Democrats rescued Johnson from removal by his own members. The MAGA contingents refuse to negotiate with Democrats on ANY legislation. Trump sent word he wanred the Border Issue to remain an issue for this election. Thence the vote was killed in both Senate and House. The best and most conservative legilation offered in decades regards the border went to its grave after 4 months of effort and good faith negotiations.
