2020 isn't the first year aspiring Canadian Olympians have trained for a competition that never came to fruition. Back in 1980, pentathlete Diane Jones-Konihowski was positioned to get on the podium for what was meant to be her final Olympics, but she was robbed of that closure when Canada boycotted the Games in Moscow.
