Eye on the Tropics
There are no tropical threats to the Gulf of Mexico and just one active storm in the Atlantic as of Sunday evening.

That storm is Sam, and it's a powerful one. It's a Category 4 hurricane, and it is forecast to remain a major hurricane through at least Friday. It will curve north around a ridge of high pressure and stay well east-northeast of the Leeward Islands of the Caribbean Sea. Bermuda could see impacts from Sam by the end of this weekend.

A couple of waves will come off of Africa this week, and they have a medium chance of developing in five days. If they do develop, the next names are Victor and then Wanda. They would be our 20th and 21st named storms this season.
