If you're shifting from driving a manual transmission vehicle, Never use both of your feet to drive an AT. To simplify, do not use your left foot to hit the brakes. That started the Montero SUA Myth. Some drivers thought that they were hitting the brakes, because muscle memory tells them that their left foot equates to clutch, and beside it is the brake pedal.

Hello po I am using Mitsubishi Mirage G4 CVT transmission. May feature po siya na gear na "B" or "Brake Engine". This is for uphill and downhill terrain daw po. But my question is:

Pwede ko bang i-shift from "Drive" to "B" while I am moving? Exemption po ba to sa sinabi ninyo na if mag gear shift sa automatic, dapat naka brake muna? Mahirap po kasi na laging mag brake everytime may uphill o downhill na dadaanan. Thank you po in advance.

Handbrake for automatic is only for parking on incline or decline like a hill.

DON'Ts:
1. Don't pop the shifter to neutral before coming to a complete stop.
2. Don't shift to reverse while still moving forward. This can eventually ruin your transmission.
3. Don't suddenly shift into gear during a high idle. This places unnecessary force on your transmission.
4. Don't rest your hand on the shifter while you're not shifting. Because, what for?
5. Don't leave your car in park without the handbreak. This can wear on your transmission.

DOs:
1. Stop first, then move the shifter to neutral.
2. Come to a complete stop before shifting into reverse.
3. Shift into gear during a low idle or a complete stop.
4. Keep both hands on the wheel while driving. (Duh)
5. Pull up the handbreak when you park your car.

whats the use of neutral ... the said you dont need to use it in traffic lights

How about when stopping on a stoplight? Should I put it on drive or neutral? I've watched a couple of vids about these and they are telling different things.

Dont leave your car park without handbreak? Why? What if you come from a long drive and your rotor disc is very hot and if you put your hand break immediately you will ruined it.

Nuetral in long traffic then shift to d only when moving... is it ok? Or it needs to be on park mode when stock on a traffic?

Good day, TGP! I have a question and hopefully you can answer this question that has been running in my head for days now. I've been a stick driver since 2004 and I just recently switched to an automatic car. I wanted to know if the ff. is correct. 1) When the car is at P (inclined/level surface) do I place the gearbox in N and then Handbrake or P-HB -N? When driving and I reach a red light, do I shift from D -HB -N or D -N -HB? Light turns Green - do I shift from N-HB-D or N-D-HB? Thank you in advance. God bless

This video fails to mention that if It's very cold outside, the handbrake could freeze and prevent the handbrake from properly disengaging.
