We always wore them bigger but would have a seamstress do darts in the back to take out the waist gap- tie a scarf as a belt through the belt loops and then look like expensive jeans- tip from a 80’s college era boomer.

I will remind you 501s are 100% cotton. If you plan to use the dryer, they go back to the original size and take most of the day to stretch back out. Yes I love my 501.

I’m too old to wear tight jeans, but it’s annoying to wear loose ones when gardening. I’ve been wearing size 28 ribcage inseam 29 because I like the long look during winter. I’m thrifted size 27 and hopefully they fit just right.

Coming from a male, I wear a 32 501’s for construction over time I promise they stretch out, not much but just enough to be really comfortable. I think I lost some weight though😹
