Worth it? The Most Expensive Levi 501 Jeans ($260)

I forget who asked BUT today we are reviewing the Levi 501XX 1947 LVC jeans! LVC stands for Levi's Vintage Clothing and the name is what it sounds like, Levi's vintage reproductions of their classic fits and clothes! They don't just do jeans BUT these are raw, unsanforized, and selvedge of course, they are NOT the STF model though...however they still are STF so I hope that's not confusing. LVC also does shirts, sweaters, socks(?) you name it. Cool stuff? Yup! But what about the quality? Are they worth it? Are they worthy? Find out!

I'm learning a lot about clothing from you. My main language is Spanish so I don't understand everything you say, but I enjoy watching your videos! Saludos desde Perú!

Bought my first LVC pairs few days ago. 66’ 501 Rigid. Cone Mills. Bartack. Big E. A bit tapered. Since I don’t own a tub, I soak it with cold water for 25-30 mins. Shrinking a bit, but fit good on me. Truly a legendary pair from legendary brand.

very informative video. and yes, it is borderline pretentious how levi's has basically zero info on their website. don't they realize we like to know about what we're buying? as a denim head of almost 15 years, i have nothing against levi's, but at this point i'd rather give my money to the "mom and pop" jean brands. my top 3 favorite fits are rgt stantons, railcar spikes, and tellason sheffield.

Thanks for this. I'm just now getting into this vintage denim thing. I'm 54 and 501's were a staple of life for a teenager in the 80's. **If only I had this information back then!**
Gonna subscribe so I can keep up!

Uniqlo also uses Kahara Mills for their raw jeans and sells the jeans at roughly 40 USD.

I love the companies that are doing their best to reproduce products from decades ago. LL Bean is doing the same thing with their flannels; I picked up a flannel last year from them and it has a tag on the inside that says it's the design from the 1940s iirc.

In the UK 2008 LVC 1947s were about £120-140. In 2010 they went up to £220 ish. The reason I was told of the increase was the cost of cotton had doubled, if not more. I'm guessing Levis just never readjusted the price to reflect the cost of cotton.

My favorite Levi’s 501’s is the whole world were really old and very amazing. They had an incredible slim fit, super dark, just amazing. I was at a house party and some kid bumped a big red candle over and the wax went all the F—K over my jeans. Don’t wear your favorite vintage jeans around

LVC pricing can seem really out of hand but it's a wild west because it's all ready been made. They aren't making anything in US or with Cone Mills denim anymore.

Lots of very interesting info here, so thanks! My guess would be that the cost driver was most likely the profit margin they're looking for rather than production cost. I was disappointed that we all have to wait another week for the big announcement. I want to get at the front of the line for orders (please make sure not to forget those of us of the short, stout persuasion).

Never imagined the fabric to become heavier after shrinkage. Didn't mind LVC STF bc of the 'lightweight' fabric. My models will be the 1933's and/or 1937's.

The Warehouse and co 1105 is the best 501 I ever have, just a pajama. So much confort, so much details. The denim is made with Zimbabwe Cotton, like the one Fullcount make - because this cotton has the same specifications as the american cotton in the early 30-40’s. Love this Jean, wear it as much as I can ! Thanks for your content, very good intro haha

They look great on you. Nice fit. Unless they’re uncofortrable, I wouldn’t sweat it. Now, you may have wanted longer legs to roll the jeans up, but you can still pull it off with this length. Me personally, I do not roll my cuffs, unless the jeans are too long.
At least you have an excuse to buy another pair!

the BEST LVC 501 was back in the time when they were made in Japan, those were 100% original retro by using the machines from 1950s. Nowadays 501s are made in Turkey, not as good as the Japanese made. But, still something worthy to own.
