Tis because there's no writer. These are just oral stories Homer compiled with a dash of his own fan-canon. Also OSP Red told us Penthesilea was in one of those post Homer poems. All in all, Penthesilea mocking Achilles as a boy is hilarious though, dude's got kid at this point (Neoptolemus).

Pretty sure Patroclus was dead at this point. The Amazons arrived after Hector's death. Besides, I think Achilles was a man of many loves, all at the same time.
