Problems are: need a fast usb(3+), a fast machine (pc or laptop) capable of running the usb drive at fast speed, otherwise dnf update times out.

Also, you could just as well spin up a Fedora VM, mount the USB in the VM and install the full installation from there. Booting from one USB drive to install Fedora on another one is just stupid imho.

You will need a USB drive version C and fast to make it work well.

Hi thank you sir for this! It works and I allocated all my terabyte storage to fedora on a LACIE 2 TB external hard drive.

Since I did it the way you did, I couldn’t change how much storage I could put in the partition, but if I wanted to install a second Linux distro with my external hard drive, is there a way I could shrink the partition to leave space allocated for that distro?
