The way they handled Furina was absolutely genius and needs to be given more credit. They introduced the hydro archon that didn’t powercreep Kokomi, Yelan, Xingqiu, etc… but still made her a strong off field sub dps and buffer.

altho some characters feel like they were powercrept such as Albedo by Chiori, the powercreep in HSR is WAY worse lmao it legit makes me feel bad for skipping any recent characters

The powercreep in Genshin doesn't affect a lot of stuff since elements are important, and matter just as much as character abilities and multipliers.

Whoever mentioned the local legends in Natlan in the chat didn’t realize that 99% of them are gimmick fights. You’re not even supposed to just go there and brute force your way through the fight like you do with other bosses. They all have specific mechanics for you to take advantage of that make the fight easier so you can beat them with literally ANY character.

The powercreep in genshin is more in the realm of the "ceiling" of what the characters can do, rather than the "base" or "floor". C0R0 hutao in terms of theoretical numbers in a proper team, deals as much as damage C0R0 Arlecchino (source TGS). But if you compare hutao's cons and arlecchino cons, you just get so much more value with the newer characters.

This is in tangent in what is said in this short, you can still clear the game with 1.0 characters as the "base" or "floor" of the game remained relatively the same, but the "celling" just got much higher.

The element system and the elemental reactions is what keeps the powercreep in check, since old characters can still provide the element needed for the reaction.

To me, it feels more like Constellation powercreep instead of character powercreep. Constellations of early game characters are just not great, with a few exceptions like Hu Tao c1, Raiden c2, and Kazuha c2.
If you compare c0 Chiori with c0 Albedo, the difference isn't very big with the same weapon and investment. But compare a c6 Chiori to a c6 Albedo, and suddenly, it's two entirely different power levels.

The thing the seperates Genshin and HSR in powercreep is the elemental system. They are more use cases for characters by just having an element which can get away from being totally powercreep like Candace and Dehya has teams that uses their applications

Most of the stuff in Genshin is either a SideGrade, or it's a character that is strong BUT revives older/nieche characters to work, cue Furina, Nilou and Xianyun (loose examples here, there's probs more).

Powercreep in Genshin does exist but not to a serious extent, like how i used the first archon team to play the game for 3 years

Power creep in Genshin is more along the lines of, “we’re releasing characters that make it easier to hit bigger numbers.”

On my no limited wishing account I only have Diluc, Mona, and a handful of four stars and I have had almost no trouble clearing content.

However, in HSR I haven’t pulled a ton, but despite having Acheron, Aventurine, Ratio, and Jiaoqiu, I haven’t been able to fully complete any endgame content outside of DU.

powercreep in genshin for me is more based on their animation, trailer, gameplay style (more fun, stylish, etc.). Well, the stronger unit will always appear in later patch but tbh as someone who doesnt care about meta or damage, I think having characters who are fun/easy to use is more important
