That Celica will still have 240K miles in another 5 years at the rate he drives it/doesn't drive it.

One thing I see a lot of people do at railroad crossings is that they sit there with their foot on the brake for the entire time the train is passing. That's really hard on an automatic transmission and the brake master cylinder. Put it in park and let it idle.

Thought for sure you were going to mention to come to a complete stop and not a slight roll before switching from R to D, a friend always did that when backing out of the driveway, wouldn’t stop the car fully and would just push the stick down into D. Painful to see unnecessary damage which could be avoided.

What's the 3rd thing?

#1: Don't run your tires if stuck in snow
#2: Don't run your car really low on gas.
#3:...

And because of how an open differential is designed, when that tire is spinning it is going twice as fast as the speedo indicates. For example: if the speedo reads 75 MPH, the tire is going 150 MPH and normal tires aren't designed to go that fast. Worst case = The tire blows up and damages the car body and suspension too. JMO.

Pro tip: If you have a Chevy, and you start the engine, it will wear out.

What kind of tires are best for ice? Is it just called snow tires

Big mud advice here: Try to go forward and if u cant stop immediately. Try going backwards and if u cant, stop immediately. Find wood planks(i keep em in the car) and place behind or in front of tires and try again. If its still a no, jack each side up and place planks directly under the tires. Understand that just because u gain traction does not mean ur out of the storm. U need to keep momentum of the vehicle up until u are on pavement. DO NOT STOP ON MORE MUD JUST BECAUSE UR OUT OF THE HOLE…

With todays gas prices (thx joe) and my huge gas tank, I treat 1/2 tank as empty. Lol

Shifting from Drive to Reverse,
while giving it gas, without completly stopping first, will kill your Transmission .
My friend who owned a Transmission shop would see this a lot when it snowed a lot .

I remember as a student driver I drove into a ditch in the winter. Snow covered half the front right wheel. I was in a 1995 Nissan Almera, FWD. What did I do? I put it into reverse and very carefully and slowly backed out in the same tracks I went into the ditch. Easy. Still proud that I didn’t get stuck! Meanwhile I see fools with AWD get stuck on the tiniest patch of snow because they panic and just spin their wheels. Had I paniced and started spinning my wheels I would have probably slided down further into the ditch.

No, the real reason why your electric fuel pump could get wrecked is because it’s cooled by the fuel in the tank. So when it runs low the pump isn’t properly cooled

That celica hasn't had any miles put on it in years :-)

Here in Michigan we know any big snowfall mean dollars. People rock those cars and overheat the tranny's. Then they quit moving. Cha ching! Payday. Keep jamming it in forward then reverse until it sounds expensive.
