The NES Mini & SNES Mini Classic Editions were awesome... but they were made for a simple reason... a reason I think Nintendo probably won't have again for a long time. So let's look at a Japanese exclusive bundle...

I can’t even believe these are 6-8 years old now. Feels like yesterday

I covet my SNES Classic. I waited 3 hours in the cold outside of Target to get mine on day one. I've since modded it with Hackchi, got a wireless controller adapter, a hard shell travel case, and even a 8bitdo Pro 2 controller because of its SNES design. It's the perfect package of my favorite console ever made.

Nintendo prefer to lock there classic titles behind a subscription service and sell replica controllers for older consoles instead

The thing I don't get about these mini consoles is these companies went through the trouble to design and manufacture them. Why not re-release them from time to time? Like Konami didn't make enough of the Turbo for sure. They could easily re-release them every couple of years and sell out.

Still playing my NES mini.
Connected to my TV as my only console.

If they would made cartridges for it, I would have bought games for it.

I honestly hoped a Gamecube mini would have been possible

So I own the NES Classic and SNES and the European version plus the PlayStation classic, but when he said that it was released in 2016. I was like no way that was 8 years ago.

I was so fortunate to get both the snes and nes minis at retail price. Still have them. Gave me the opportunity to beat some games I fell short on as a child. I let my younger brother borrow them for a year. Got them back recently and my son plays on them both. Worth every penny.

There was a line of about 200 people outside Best Buy when the NES Classic came out. I was number 50 I think, got the last one no joke. I was so thankful as they were selling for 4 times the amount for quite a while online. Does the Japanese version have the better music like the actual famicom?

I remember getting the NES Classic one first and loving it. There was a shortage but for whatever reason I was able to get one through Amazon. The SNES definitely had a shortage but I slept outside to get one at Best Buy and as I drove home in the morning I stopped by a GameStop to see if I could get one more for my buddy. I couldn't even get in the door cause the line for then SNES one went all around the building. The store likely only had so many obviously but I still go in line and waited. When I made it in I was like the 14th person in line and the GameStop staff said... "ok, people, everyone behind the guy in the blue shirt we're out of them so no more after him" the guy was like 10th in line. Everyone then left sad except me. I waited and then when I finally go upfront I asked for the SNES one and they said they may have a couple left and I was able to get one. Lol. I gave it to my buddy and he loved it. It was hard to get one for weeks after that but it was cool my buddy and I had one. 👍

I honestly never figured they'd even try with other minis simply due to how large controllers became afterwards. N64 mini would end up being pretty weird to package and scale as a result, and the gamecube is already pretty small.

I would love to see Nintendo do something akin to what Atari is doing with their 2600+ system.

An emulation based system that officially uses physical media for playing retro games in HD.

That's just me, though. I'm pretty sure Nintendo doesn't care about their legacy content that much.
