4. Pick a username and password to create your Proton Account

8. Enter the 6 digit verification code that you received
9. Click Verify
10. Checkmark or uncheckmark to save your email address or phone number to be used as a recovery method
11. Click Save selected or Maybe later (Click "Confirm" after), depending on your choice in step 10

14. Click Get started

Steps To Use And Send Email Messages With Proton Mail Free
1. Click New message
2. Click on External encrypted, denoted by the padlock symbol at the bottom of the email you're currently composing
3. Encrypt your email message by adding a password and password hint (optional) when sending to a non Proton Mail recipient
4. Click Set encryption
5. Set the email message expiry, by clicking on Edit under your email messages subject, or click on More options denoted by the three horizontal dots and click on Set expiration time
6. Adjust your desired expiration time in days and hours
7. Checkmark the box if you're sending to a non Proton Mail user or leave uncheckmarked if you're sending to another Proton Mail user.
8. Click Set
9. Click Send

Congratulations, you have successfully created a free Proton Mail account and sent your first encrypted email message.

If you have multiple free ProtonMail accounts, once you choose to upgrade, can you combine them (in a similar view that Gmail offers) without losing your Proton email address handle or contents? Or would you need to sign up for the paid plan initially and set up the multiple addresses then? I've heard different things and still can't find a video or article that says it for certain, would you know?

Lastly, on a MacOs, I bought the 2yr. plan. Attempted to connect, and it totally messed up my regular internet. Only by the Grace of God could I figure out how to MANUALLY enter bridge, DNS, THERE A WAY TO JUST toggle the VPN on and off? You mentioned the Kill Switch--does this have anything to do with toggle off and on?

Please, if you could produce a quick video for MacOs perhaps, or explain how to quickly toggle back and forth as the focus of your video----it would help alot of folks who need the security, but when need arises to go back to regular internet, to QUICKLY, safely go back to it.
It was HORRENDOUS trying to figure out how to restore my was so upset, I put the whole ProtonVPN aside, and put it in a folder, unused--when I paid for 2yrs.

What is the point of email verification so have a separate email from another source then you have put the code just create a new proton account that is most idiotic idea ever what if I never have email I only use Proton that one biggest concerns I'm sorry but ether change the verification settings.
