📜 About the Song:
"Ego Augustus" is a musical tribute to the legacy of Rome’s first emperor—Augustus Caesar. From the ashes of the Republic, he forged an empire, ushering in an era of peace, power, and prosperity. Yet, voices of the past still challenge his reign. Was he a tyrant or the savior of Rome? This song is his answer, echoing beyond death.

Through stirring Latin verses and cinematic orchestration, "Ego Augustus" revives the voice of an emperor who shaped history—a monument to ambition, leadership, and destiny.

🏛 Rome’s Golden Age – Glory, Order, and Power
Under Augustus, Rome flourished like never before. He ended the chaos of civil war, ushered in the Pax Romana, and transformed the city into an architectural and cultural marvel. Critics argue that in doing so, he sacrificed the Republic for personal power. Did Augustus betray Rome, or did he save it from self-destruction? This song embodies that eternal debate—the triumph and burden of an emperor whose every decision shaped the world’s greatest empire. His words continue to resonate across time.

📜 The Latin Verse & Its Imperial Origin
Inspired by the speeches, reforms, and enduring legacy of Augustus, these lyrics reflect the ruler’s own perspective—his justifications, his victories, and his defiance against detractors. Echoing his famous claim, "I found Rome built of bricks; I leave it clad in marble," this anthem lets Augustus speak once more, defending his reign and immortalizing his legacy.

🎶 Lyrics – Latin

Ego sum Augustus, princeps Romanus,
Pacem donavi, bellum finivi.
Aeternam urbem marmore texi,
Sed voces vetera me reprehendunt.

Numquid peccavi dum gloriam servavi?
Si libertas periit, quid Roma habuit?
Imperium stetit, populus florebat,
Neque tyrannus, sed pater fui.

Caesaris nomen mihi datum est,
At hostes clamant, “Dictator alter!”
Sed res publica iam concidit,
Ego tantum cinerem compaxi.

Actium vici, Romam servavi,
Senatum servavi, sed imperium crevit.
Leges scripsi, fidem fundavi,
Et populi vota semper audivi.

Nunc umbra sum, sed nomen manet,
Roma stat, gloria mea non perit.
Si iterum viverem, idem facerem,
Quia Augustus sum, et ero in aeternum.

🎶 Lyrics – English Translation

I am Augustus, ruler of Rome,
I brought peace, I ended war.
I cloaked the eternal city in marble,
Yet ancient voices still condemn me.

Did I sin while preserving glory?
If freedom was lost, what did Rome gain?
The empire endured, the people flourished,
I was no tyrant, but a father.

The name of Caesar was bestowed upon me,
But my enemies cry, “Another dictator!”
The Republic had already fallen,
I merely gathered its ashes.

I conquered Actium, I saved Rome,
I preserved the Senate, yet the empire grew.
I wrote laws, I established faith,
And always heeded the will of the people.

Now I am but a shadow, yet my name endures,
Rome stands, and my glory shall never perish.
If I were to live again, I would do the same,
For I am Augustus, and I shall be eternal.

📖 The Emperor’s Legacy – A Monument of Power
Augustus transformed Rome into the world’s greatest empire, yet his reign remains a subject of debate. His vision brought order, though it also marked the end of the Republic. Was he the hero Rome needed, or its greatest manipulator? "Ego Augustus" captures the duality of his legacy—the architect of Rome’s golden age and the lingering shadow of a bygone era.

🔥 The Voice of Augustus Lives Again
With epic orchestration and timeless Latin verses, "Ego Augustus" resurrects the emperor’s voice, allowing him to answer his critics and proclaim his achievements once more. Let history judge, but let his words be heard!

A good idea.
I wish this song got more traction and somebody would perform it as actual humans. Divine Augustus would appreciate this, I am sure :).
P.S. I'm too lazy to check your grammar and vocabulary (to my shame, it's been too long since last I read anything longer than a few lines in Latin), but I like the vibes alright!

Amazing song but you have to remake it using roman latin phonetics instead italian latin and you will nail it. Roman latin phonetics were epic.
