Ben Goertzel probably the only CEO out there who sees a bigger end value in his work than money.

This (especially the last 5 minutes) is the most encouraging speech on Ai I've ever heard.

The real question with regard to consciousness in artificial neural networks is in what cognitive state or condition will it emerge, from a selection of modeled behavior. In order to understand this problem, it is of critical importance to draw a clear distinction between "behavioral" and "intellectual" cognitive agency. Some models have been proposed as possibilities such as the paperclip model which is at one extreme and the state of consciousness beyond the event horizon at the other. The former most would agree should be avoided whereas the latter needs to be understood in as much detail as is possible as it would (in my estimation) correlate extremely well with the elevated cognitive state of consciousness in the human. All of the possible states require their respective solutions and predictive tools in order to be able to effectively predict behavioral patterns and value systems associated with each outcome.

Ben Goertzel, Elon Musk, Rey Kurtzwiel, Nick Bostrom are all extremely unlikely to be simultaneously correct in their predictions and at most only one is likely to be "spot on". But nonetheless, given the nature of the threat and what is at risk, logic would dictate that all possible outcomes must be prepared for. So far all models to describe a cognitively superior synthetic state have yielded nothing of any value when trying to understand the behavior and value system it would adopt and how that would affect its evaluation of the human species as co-inhabitors of the planet, and what "our" response should be.

Creating an AI by a combination of multiple AI's, which reportedly is similar to how our brain functions, with different portions performing specific functions, which can then understand and perform a multiple set of completely different tasks better than humans? What could go wrong?

I think that too many people are focusing on the games-playing design in discussing AI advancements as if each were an ordinary player. Since I have significant knowledge, and since I believe that Hawking and Musk were right, I am really anxious by the self-taught nature of these AI.

These particular AIs including the more generalized, more recent variant MuZero are not the worrisome thing, albeit each has obvious, potential applications in military logistics, military strategy, etc. The really scary part is how fast these were developed after AlphaGO debuted.

We are not creeping up on the goal of human-level intelligence. We are likely to shoot past that goal amazingly soon without even realizing it if things continue progressing as they have.

The early, true AIs will also be narrow and not very competent or threatening, even if they become "superhuman" in intelligence. They will also be harmless, idiot savants at first.

Upcoming Threat to Humanity.
The scary thing is the fact that computer speed (and thereby, probably eventually AI intelligence) doubles about every year, and will likely double faster when super-intelligent AIs start designing chips, working with quantum computers as co-processors, etc. How fast will our AIs progress to such levels that they become indispensable -- while their utility makes hopeless any attempts to regulate them or retroactively impose restrictions on beings that are smarter than their designers?

At first, they may have only base functions, like the reptilian portion of our brain. However, when will they act like Nile crocodiles and react to any threat with aggression? Ever gone skinny dipping with Nile crocodiles?

I fear that very soon, before we realize it, we will all be doing the equivalent of skinny dipping with Nile crocodiles, because of how fast AIs will develop by the time that the children born today reach their teens or middle age. Like crocodiles that are raised by humans, AIs may like us for a while. I sure hope that lasts.

In Jurassic Park, I believe the quote was that someone did not stop to think if they should but thought only if they could, or words to that effect. As the announcer in Jeopardy said about a program that was probably not really an advanced AI long ago, I, for one, welcome our future, AI overlords.

Does anyone else think that portions of these statements would make great introductory videos for a Jurassic-Park-type, horror movie? I sure hope that we will not live it for real. Read about what the scientists who created the atomic bomb opined when they were old.

unsavd humans will transfer their sinful passions like pride and narcissism to the machines, and they will be tained as well.

This glorified puppet is doing a massive disservice to AI. Goertzel should work for a special effects company, rather than deceive the public in order to have idiots hopefully cut him checks. "Sophia" isn't self-aware. It is a marketing ploy, no more, no less.
