What's more crazy about Frost Giants is that you can get them as well as orher giants if you pick Hela in Mythic Age. Fortunately, it's available only on Loki, but it is still pretty OP in my opinion.

the best use of that frost power is to immobilize those strong enemies while you deal with weaker guys

I was able to defeat the titan in AOM:TT Rampage with just Folstagg and frost giants before Nidhogg ever arrived. I never needed the "reinforcements"

Seriously, it's like having one of the mythic age myth units that one shot (medusa, argus, etc.) but an age earlier, there's almost no reason not to get them.
