I have two kids on the spectrum in my class. Their favorite thing to do at recess is swing. Every single day

What about kids who are always dissociated?

I believe I may have undiagnosed autism, Basketball for me gives me alot of comfort in regards to sensory issues. Something about the finding rhythm within the bounces etc etc

I think this is the wrong way around. Personally I feel dissassociated with my body, doing something that engages my body, reconnects my mind and body and makes some tasks easier (stimming while on a Zoom call). This is what happens when neurotypical people try to explain an experience they absolutely cannot grasp. We need more neurodivergent voices IMHO, was really glad to see the comments here which seem to agree with me.

Swings and water are my best!
Its like rocking but full motion. I dunno, best thing i ever bought its hammock and a swing. In just few minutes i regulate like crazy

I like to see the tappong he mentioned. I tap on a table when teaching sight words to my special ed students. It really helps with focus, and most of them learn the words in a few days.

Interestingly, a significant number of children like this have bed wetting problems. Which could be due to a lack of connection between mind and body while the body is sleeping and the mind is not engaged.

Weird thing is …. Make children do something I don’t want to do. Encourage them to put 1000% effort n leave everything on the table. Going forward u won’t have to worry about ur kid.

The unbalanced sensory swing made me absolutely ill.

I tried EMDR therapy with an experienced therapist who I trust, and it went terribly.

I WOULD NOT say I'm grounded in my body AT ALL. Maybe that's an important component necessary for EMDR.

Sensory differences are common, however it is best is to individualise support. This cannot be generalised. 💖

This is fine advice and information for many autistic/adhd kids, however its definitely a generalization. Some kids are primarily inattentive and finding ways that stimulate them adequately is more appropriately. Maybe imagination play, information seeking, or joking around being silly etc. And some autistic kids get overstimulated very easily by some of these things you are mentioning, whereas they may need sensory deprivation to be able to focus and regulate.

Remember folks, this is a SPECTRUM

I think a lot of kids that are sensory dominant are adhd, or you can flip it.
