As a lorry driver i always try to keep the engine revs in the green for as much as posible. There is always going to be the odd moment when it pops out the green but you can only do your best.

hey Richard if we assume were on flat ground and i go in third gear 50km/h at about 2400-2500 revs and i switch to 4th gear and now im at same speed but 2000 revs do you think im saving fuel going in higher gear in this situation? btw car has about 55KW if that helps

Just wonder for a boundary speed, i.e., a speed that can be on one lower gear with just under 2k Rev or higher gear with little more than 1k Rev, whether fuel consumption is the same. E.g., 50 MPH using 5th and 6th, or 40 MPH using 4th and 5th.

My cars gear indicator always seems to indicate too high of a gear. If I shift to that gear, my revs end up at like 1500, and the car feel like it's struggling when i try to accelerate.
I'm by no mea s a car guy though, so I might be completely misunderstanding.
