I am still in awe at my c2. As you know Brian…I was an early adopter of the LG CX, and it didn’t quite work out for me. I was never really happy, and had issues with my CX since the day I turned it on. It did get ironed out thru FW, but it tainted and ruined my experience. Not to mention, I felt like my CX was very capped, and the panel’s capabilities just weren’t that great. For instance, the color volume wasn’t very good on the CX. It had a very diluted look, when demanding a lot of brightness. It didn’t get very bright either.

The C2 just wows me. It always feels plenty bright enough. It feels on par with all the QLEDs I’ve owned in the past, outside of full field luminance. The color tho….that’s one of the biggest upgrades from my pov. It just has noticeably better color and color volume compared to my CX. It doesn’t dilute, or take on that diluted look, and bright saturated highlights stay more saturated looking.

Next thing I just wanna mention before I go…is the things like the clear clarity advantage to these new panels. There’s just an added level of clarity and detail. Less dithering is needed near black, and that goes a long way for HDR content especially. But no more crushed blacks/shadow details on my c2. It tracks gamma damn near perfect, and has almost none of that grainy, blocky noise near black. Like it suffers from almost zero near black chrominance overshoot. Gradation is also better. Both natively, and with features like smooth gradation enabled. I no longer feel the need to use smooth gradation, in order to have a decent, presentable, low bit-rate image now.

Overall, I couldn’t be happier with the C2. I am looking forward to getting a QD-OLED, as I’m a color/color volume and HDR freak…until then…I am more than satisfied.

After 1 year I am still happy with my XR77A80J equipped with a glossy EVO panel screen. Enough brightness for this specific 77-inch version when watching movies and playing games at day and night🥳

I ended up getting the A80J a few months back after a lot of research, including Brian's videos. The price was right and I like Google TV. I self calibrated it. The 1 thing that I find hard to get perfect is the black posterization(correct term?) when streaming. Like streaming For All Mankind on Apple TV, the dark scenes in space are hard to get perfect. Playing with the settings, I can get it close, but the more you eliminate the posterization, the more sharp detail you lose. Other than that, the TV is great, and the not super dark scenes look amazing.

Hi Brian, Hope you and the family are all doing well. I re-retired my 65' A8H to my kid bedroom and got the A95k 65" for my bedroom . It is as advertised and review from you AWSOME. However I, have to agreed 100% with you that immersion and size with my new A90j 83" on living room just blows away any small differences I have noticed on the Qd-oled at 65" Thanks for all your awesome reviews and advises!!

I just picked up a refurbished 77" A80J for $1350! I did a lot of research, and the TV seems to still keep up with the best of them in 2023! I am super excited as this will be my first OLED. Fingers crossed that there are no problems with the refurbished pannel!

I have the A80J and the LG C1. I'm not a fan of the semi matte finish on the 66" A80J. Once I retire that TV to the bedroom, I'll be looking to get a glossy OLED from Sony. Great video Brian!

In looking for a 4K 55" inches 120Hz tv and my top is this

1st: Sony OLED 55" A80J $999

2nd: LG 55" C2 OLED $1299

3RD: Samsung Q80B $899

what are your thoughts? it's hard to choose and i actually own a Vizio V-55 4k and i would like to use the new TV for gaming and as a pc monitor

Missed the live stream but both sets are very similar so either one would probably make you happy. I made my choice as you know and just keep watching it and fine tuning it to my liking. I love all the options Sony gives you to make it look any way you want. I haven't checked into the advanced tech menu but pretty sure it has one buried somewhere.
I need to watch that demo on my beast, it should be a visual treat. Keep it up Brian 👍

Excellent point about leaving the Sony in its setting and just watching while having to work on other TVs. I bought a Samsung Frame in my bedroom. I never use it except for art but when I use it to compare content, I'm always in the settings and those settings are so hard to get to.

In the real world, how noticeable is the C2 ‘s increased brightness? I have the A80j but it’s too dim. Sports are impossibly dim because of the ASBL.

Hey Brian. Still holding out hope that you give your thoughts on the a90k. I think this will be particularly appealing to viewers this time around for monitor use compared to all the other years due to the inclusion of the 42 inch model. I kept waiting, but I pulled the trigger on the 42 a90k a few days ago. I'm expecting to really enjoy it. Should arrive on Monday! I hope all is well. PS- I'll be using the a90k as my pc monitor, as well as for ps5 gaming and streaming content. So, this will be my all in one coming from the 65 inch c7. Still keeping the c7 as the a90k will be my office monitor. Still, I expect to get many, many hours out of it!
