This is a fun, opinionated piece I’ve been cooking up for a while :) It is by no means intended to insult your choices! I just want to _provoke_ some thought haha. My opinions are my own and I am by no means right about everything here. Let me know what you think! Would love to hear what you agree with and what you don’t.

After college, no one gives a shit. If they do, do you really want someone in your life that judges you by the type of phone you use?

He made a click bait video to tell us he prefers apple. Cool.

I’d argue no one cares what phone you have at all anymore. People just buy what they always buy, and always will 😂

Nobody outside the US cares about stuff like that. In Germany I’ve sent like 5 messages via iMessage in the last 5 years. Nobody uses FaceTime. I like my iPhone for work, but personally I prefer my Pixel 8 a hundred times more. If you are older than 20 and still use a phone to define your personality something went terribly wrong in your life

iPhone users then: “Wow, the rounded edges are so ergonomic.”
iPhone users now: “Wow, the sharp edges are so ergonomic.”
This is why iPhone users have a bad name.

I think this argument truly only makes sense in the North America and maybe Japanese markets. Down in my country, iPhones hold only a paltry 6% market share. It's true that that's mostly driven by price too. the iMessage lock-ins don't exist anywhere else in the world outside of North America either.

All very fair statements. I just purchased the the S23 Ultra and love it! I have been an iPhone guy since the iPhone 3GS. I'm all in on the Apple eco system with Apple Watch Ultra, Airpod's, MacBook Pro, iPad's, Home Pod Mini. But you know what? I was bored as hell with the iPhone and iOS. I wanted all the customizing features that Android allows. I wanted split screen apps on a big ass phone. I wanted 10x zoom, I wanted the ability to side load APK's cause I'm a grown ass man and don't need Apple telling me I'm not smart enough to make those decisions. I'm lucky that I can make my "work phone" be the Ultra and still keep my iPhone 13 mini for all the great things Apple does. I know most don't have that luxury.

As a ux engineer, apple's accessibility features as well how the user uses the phone to do simple tasks are horrible. A simple change for settings in app has multiple steps. How the notifications come up, control panel buttons are designed with an all knowing user in mind, which again is horrible. I think the only thing apple knows how to do is marketing. Neither hardware nor software is optimized well enough for older or people with disabilities.

In North America yeah, sure, nobody cares about Android phones. But thanks God North America is not the only thing in the entire earth.

nah cuz someone told me that their iphone 8 plus is better than my s23 ultra ☠. that's why people are picking iphones, they are buying the company.

I find no one asks when you have a new iPhone but so many ask me about my Pixel 7 Pro. It's different and they're curious. They won't switch but they do ask 😊

I think your opinion is fitting for people living in the US. Im from germany and noone i know is using iMessage, FaceTime or any other Apple exclusive apps. I switched from an Iphone to a Pixel 6a and the only thing i miss is ApplePay.

Starting from the Pixel 6 and Material You/Android 12, the Pixel phones and the software is a perfect combination. Almost all the Google apps take on the color schemes of the wallpaper on the pixel and also the design. Plus the Pixels now are just as smooth as ios and the animations are nice.

I bought a Samsung foldable and can say that even a lot iPhone users describe it as a very fascinating phone. Even though most of them wouldn’t buy it, because it’s got no iOS, they still definitely kind of like it.

Samsung user: it has x, y, z...
Apple fanboi: That big notch is beautiful...

Nobody* = little kids/teens in the US, rest of the world laughs at people who are buying iphones that essentially do less compared to even budget androids but for a higher price

The reason people go for iPhones is the reliability, simplicity, design and peer pressure.

i laugh when you say iphone is thoughtful, when you need to scour the setting just to change camera setting or any app, and they didn't even have auto brightness shortcut on their toolbar, the apps is just scattered on the setting, you cannot move widget app shortcut freely, the keyboard sucks, editing text sucks, there's no clipboard, no splitscreen, file management is bad, no sync on third party app most of the time, airdrop is often not working. i admit the phone is pretty, but you're not liking the ios but tolerate it.
