These farm animals transformed into heroes like those in tear-jerking cartoon Animals of Farthing Wood - as a goat and rooster rushed to save their chicken pal as it was attacked by a hawk.

Jaap Beets was standing in his farmhouse in Gelderland, Netherlands, on September 5 when he heard loud screaming from his livestock outside.

Incredible CCTV footage showed a goshawk as it dive-bombed one of his brown chickens, sending feathers flying all over the paddock.

I love the second chicken bolting in, no questions asked. It’s completely helpless compared to the hawk and probably can’t do much, if anything, but it runs in to save its buddy anyway. True friend right there

Goats are so underrated in the animal kingdom. They can be very expressive with their bleats. Just a quick story: Few years ago, I was walking to work when i heard a goat bleating in its enclosure on the side of the road. I shouldn't have paid much attention but its bleats were so expressive as a cry for help, that it made my walk stop instantly, I could really hear it asking for help, so i went to check and saw that its horns were stuck on the soft steel wire mesh fence. He stayed very calm for the minute it took to remove its horns from the wires. When it was finally released, i heard one of the most expressive "Thanks" i ever heard... and it was from a goat bleat. It then proceeded to jump around a few times before going away. Still to this day, it gives me a smile when i think about it.

I was attacked by a rooster as a toddler, they don't screw around. I was a bloody mess and almost lost an eye.
I now have a rooster that looks just like the one that attacked me. We are buddies, he guards his hens ferociously but he also warns me if someone is coming up behind me. He also kills mice and moles and leaves them at my front door to show me his good works. He's awesome!

I like how the goat assesses the situation: at first he's just approaching, unsure whether it's just in-fighting between two chickens, then starts picking up speed as he notices that it's a real deal emergency

This is why my parents penned our chickens with our goats. They are very helpful, not just to get rid of underbrush in overgrown forested areas of our property, but also in protecting other animals.

I can understand the other chicken coming to her friend’s rescue, but for the goat to get involved, that blew me away.
