Bringing ‘When Paths Meet’ to Paris was an incredible experience. I’m thrilled to have launched ‘L’Amour Vivant’ there, a new composition from the second in the When Paths Meet series. It is meant as an expression of that love that moves the universe, of that unseen force that connects, unites, and embraces all living things. A work in several movements, ‘L’Amour Vivant’ moves from the intricate geometry of Baroque to maqams of the Middle East to the meditative sounds of the West African kora and Chinese erhu. Each culture’s music tradition shines with its unique perception and expression of the essence of love.

I can’t say enough about the stellar musicians who performed this work. The Scoring Orchestra went above and beyond to meet the challenges the compositions presented and they did so with dedication and consummate artistry. Together with the captivating voices of Les Métaboles, they delivered a performance of emotional depth and beauty. They were a joy to work with.
