Battle of the cheap full frame Nikon D700 vs Canon 5D

A morning at Rutland Water to see if these cheap entry into full frame 12 megapixel DSLRs from 2005 (Canon) and 2008 (Nikon) can compete in 2019.

It's 2021, I got a 5D Classic eleven days ago following a relentless search for one year. Already used the modern DSLRs including 1Dx II and 7DII. Can certify, nothing beats the Classic image quality.
Had I been a Nikon user, would definitely go after D700.

Really enjoyed the video. I agree its mainly about the lens you use and not the body. Also if people are just posting to social media you wouldn't even be using 10% of the power a modern full frame camera.

The D700 is 3 Years newer (2008), but does feature a stronger OLPF Block, so into the End, 5D are Trademark "Canon Color", and into 1:1 Comparsions (See DPReview Review) it is sharper than the D700. The D700 does have a much better AF System, but into the End, it depends what one is shooting with. The System are the Lenses, never the Body. Canon does have nice L-Series Lenses for EF Mount, and Nikon does feature Goldring F-Mount Lenses, also.

D700 with 50mm is my standard camera when I want to compose and enjoy, 'slowfood'. My D7200 is my here-there-everywhere 'fastfood' one.

Nice vid. The D700 was unique in terms of its sensor. A legend. Not a fan of the new Mirrorless. 👍🏻

I really liked the video, I actually just picked up a D700 for 400.00 USD, with 30, 000 SC, can't wait to play with...

Actually, the d700 can shoot up to 8fps. It has better dynamics range and auto iso. The cannon does not have auto iso. I am sure there are more difference that makes the d700 a better choice but these three came to mind.

I know that this video is 5 years old, but quite frankly the background music was slightly irritating and you spoke so softly, it almost beats the purpose, if it makes us concentrate to hear what you were saying, then it's a waste of time bro, seriously, we are not here to listen to a piece of noise in a loop. What otherwise would've been a great video was completely ruined by that useless and loud background music.

Hi the one thing that seems to be missing when the D700 and the 5D are compared is that you can change the battery and go from 5fps to 8fps on the D700.
