Vera, a hound mix with a heart of gold! ❤️ #foreverhome

I am behind in my social media posting, so here are some updates. Sweet Vera was pulled from Limestone County Animal Control and Care, a municipality kill shelter in Alabama. Limestone County Animal Care and Control in Alabama put out a call that they were over capacity and needed help. @jkrcrescue from NJ heard the call and pulled four large-breed dogs listed on EU-LISTED, including Vera and three others.

Vera was not on the euthanasia list, but some of her friends were. Vera's rescue opened space and helped save the lives of other dogs waiting for homes and on the list. I fostered her until she left at the end of March.

Vera is a five-year-old hound and shepherd mix who is current on vaccines. She is low-energy and prefers the comforts of home to hiking and the outdoors. Vera was a stray, and an animal control officer in Limestone County saved her life from ending up in a bad way by taking her off the streets. She is very sweet, loves dogs of all sizes and children of all ages, and tolerates cats. She knows to sit, come, and paw. She is potty and crate-trained. She loves to be brushed softly and bathed. She started playing with toys.

When she first came into my house, Vera only lay on the floor with a blanket under her. She learned to love soft beds and cuddles. She prefers short walks to long hikes.

Vera loved with me and then transferred to a New Jersey foster under @jkrcrescue, waiting for her forever family. When shelters and rescues work together nationally, more lives are saved.
