Purdue Pharma Will Pay $8.3 Billion to Settle Opioid Case

Oct.21 -- Purdue Pharma LP will plead guilty to three felonies and pay $8.3 billion to settle federal probes of how it marketed OxyContin, the addictive painkiller blamed for helping to spark the opioid epidemic. The company’s owners, members of the billionaire Sackler family, will also pay $225 million in a civil settlement. Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey A. Rosen speaks at a press conference in Washington.

Purdue got the deal of a lifetime. Their fines will come to about $1 dollar per person they murdered. The costs to cities and states is immeasurable, but Purdue's new "good works" will help with that, also. My head is exploding.
