I am surprised the city did not have any of those school buildings open as emergency shelter/warming center during this in the 1st place. School classes were out for the holidays so i see no reason they were not able to do that for people who lost heat or became stranded in the area. They have heat, a cafeteria, gym floors with gym mats for people to sleep on.

It's so good to see some kindness still in this world that seems to be growing closer and colder by the minute. WSJ wrote about this story a few days ago. GMA left out (and WSJ included) that, first, Jay went to 10 different homes offering $500 to stay at their home for the night.
All 10 homes turned him down. Then he broke into the school and started helping people
