I understand you not wanting to talk about losing your rubber boa, Adam. I just lost my jungle carpet python. He was only 9 months old. Had a massive cancerous tumor that destroyed his kidneys. I had wanted a jungle carpet python for about 10 years and got through my own cancer debacle and when I came out healthy and off meds I finally got my dream snake and I loved that dude. Nature is a cruel mistress. Sorry for your loss, bud.

Thank you so much for giving pink tongues some love. They are so underrated. I love mine. So docile and easy to handle. Really on of the best pet lizards I have ever had

Thank you for thinking of us Aussies. We are so jealous of all the reptiles you can keep.

You could have done Rankin's Dragons instead of beardies. They are virtually the same as far as care but they're smaller and don't require quite as big of enclosure. I'm pretty sure they'd come in under 12" nose to vent.

Very interesting video. Some of these laws are ridiculous.

a couple of months ago, a law was passed that prohibits owning any reptiles in spain, along with almost any pet that isnt a dog/cat. it is just sad that this is how things are going down

Glad you included ant hill pythons. I acquired a juvenile male one six months ago, and he's doing brilliantly; feeds on pinkie mice - voraciously, sheds in one piece every time, with no misting. I live in the uk, and have to mist down my other boas and pythons substrate twice a day, three or more times when they are in a shed cycle during the winter months. Yes, they love climbing. In the first three months, mine came out of his hides every afternoon, and basked on his branch, but more recently he is never out during the day. An amazing little snake!

Great video. I would have made a special exclusion to Hawaii for basically anything reptile related. From all of my research they basically ban everything not native unless it's related to some scientific or medical purpose or in some cases for zoos is restricted or Banned. Even something as simple as the Leopard Gecko (Eublepharis macularius) or even Crested Geckos are illegal...Basically, if you want to keep an exotic pet don't move to Hawaii as you have basically no options.
Again Great video, it makes one have to really think when it comes to keeping reptiles, and to always do research to find out what is actually allowed.

One thing I love about House Snakes is they can give you a miniature version of some pythony behaviors and looks. They remind me very much of a tiny, somewhat more shy version of a Reticulated python, but if you haven't got the room or the laws for an SD Retic, a house snake might still delight you, and they fit neatly into a dorm or apartment sized life. (Seriously mine lives in a shoebox bin and doesn't want to eat if I give him more space. We're working on reaching a middle ground with an enclosure he'll find covered enough to feel comfy in. Lots of tubes and cover, but it's STILL a small enclosure compared to my BP's 120gal)

I just never see rubber boas for sale. I’ve looked for like 6 years and can’t find any. Saying that, my parents won’t let me go to an expo for whatever silly goose reason. This is a great list and it’s great you didn’t forget about Australians. :)

Western NY resident here! Love your videos.
New York states reptile laws are pretty reasonable. We can’t have really big things like anacondas and crocodiles, or really venomous things like cobras, but even that you can get permits for in certain circumstances. I’m not a legal expert by any means, but as long as my king snakes and hognoses stay legal, I’m happy!

Steinbach, Manitoba bans all Pythonidae and Boidae and the RM of Hanover bans all constrictors.
Many people don't realize this. I have had to deny adoptions of some of the animals in my Rescue (about 15 km East of Hanover) because they aren't allowed there.

Ahhh Omg Pink Tongues. So glad to see them finally in your videos. I have two myself and they are so chill and easy to care for.

rubber boas are native to the Okanagan area in BC, I've seen one wild once and it was so cool

Barrie, Pembroke, theres is a few others but basically if they have laws against specific dogs they often ban all exotic pets its sad these miss informed people making outrageous bylaws

As you said, check local laws because there's almost certainly exceptions to every one of these.
Hawaii being a bit of a unique one. It doesn't quite fall into the native/not-native category, since you can have some pets that have already established themselves there, but you can't transport them between islands - sadly, you cannot keep the day geckos if I recall, but I'm pretty sure the Jackson's Chameleons can be kept.

Maybe some sort of "no breeding/licensed breeding only, but you can take one/keep what you have" laws regarding already invasive animals could make sense in places like Hawaii and Florida?
