Great job ! I have the QT 60 and it is great. I did get digital modes with Digi rig as sound card. This gives a PTT but VOX works as well. I used the Anytone AT 5555N II cable set . The QT 80 cam out after I got the QT 60 . Still happy. The QT 60 is now replaced with the QT 60 PRO that is shorter . The only odd thing with the QT 60 is using the CTCSS/DCS tones. It is a number on display and have to look up in manual to get the HZ . I just made a copy, enlarged it and laminated it . Both radios work great portable and on battery ! The thing to watch for digital modes is duty cycle to your power out. Like FT8 . Just cut power to keep heat sink cool. The only trouble I had with digital is getting levels from PC to radio correct. There's no ALC display , so setting WSJT-X TX level can be trickly to get best point. I used a scope to look for folding of signal. The the ALC pulling back. You can use peek reading meter as well. you get to a point wear their is no more power increase. just back off a tad from that point. the audio TX level is set and just use power on radio to set your power out. Just a confusing thing in WSJT-X . Nor really RF power on computer. That TX audio level. The power is set buy radio. once I figured that out FT8/JS8 call and FT4 ETC was easy making contacts. Done SSTV as well. Lots of digital fun ! I got CW decoding to work on PC . even RTTY . FLDigi is a great program. 73

TIP: PRESS and HOLD the BAND key to enable full VFO mode!!! You don't need this radio in channel mode at all! And it will not mute on step changes in VFO mode! Set the PF KEY to "CH.PUSH" to make good use of the full VFO mode. 73

A M NPC : Negative Peak Compression

Using this while on AM will give you many times more output as compared to the regular output !
May introduce distortion, or splatter ?

I wish you would have shown the output on 15 meters with voice, as opposed to a whistle !
Mine acts strangely, as I can show several watts output with a whistle, but regardless of how hard I try to modulate the microphone, it barely moves the watt meter ?
As to the Noise Blanker, you will only see both NB/ANL displayed when in A M mode !
NB only in SSB !
I am disappointed in the little effort of these transceivers towards CW !
Putting a 3.5mm/ 1/8 inch Mono phone jack in the back of the microphone, will earn you a nasty shock when your palm touches the jack, while speaking into the microphone !
But why the low RF output in CW mode ?

Since the QT 80, and the Anytone 6666 Pro are seemingly the same radio, I feel compelled to tell of an experience I had with the Anytone !
While the radio was turned on in receive with no antenna connected, the radio began to smoke !
Had not been used to transmit for at least Two hours prior !
Fortunately I was sitting in front of the radio, and immediately turned the radio off, and shut off the power supply, likely preventing a house fire !
Unfortunately, my trying to alert Anytone so far has fallen on deaf ears !
Even having a dealer for Anytone emailing the Company thru his normal correspondence route ?
Upon a cursory inspection, I noted only the Positive lead showed signs of the wire insulation melted, and what appeared to be charing of the PCB where the Positive lead meets the board !
Not having a schematic, I'm guessing like many transceivers, that power is always supplied to the Finals, regardless of the power switch setting, and I'm guessing that a Final failed, and caused a short ?
I have purchased Two, with plans of putting one in a Mobile.
But now I am afraid to leave one unattended, with power supplied continually as would be in a Mobile installation !
Hoping to hear from Anytone on this, I can only say,
" Caveat Emptor " !
Don't leave the power on with these radios unattended !
Previously, I had been bragging to people about how these radios were legions ahead of what we had decades ago !
And I still believe that !
But if lets say there were a bad lot of Final transistors installed, then I certainly believe that this needs to be addressed !
Too as is, these radios run extremely Hot in Transmit !
Hence the heavy duty Heat Sink !
I placed a fan at the back, and that seened to resolve the heat issue !
I'm guessing if others fail, and GOD forbid start Car or House fires, the Company will have no choice in responding !
